Fountain, Colorado is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,583 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Fountain were Catherine and George Hinkle who arrived in 1876. In 1887, they married Anna Weiser and the town got its name from Anna's birth place of Fountain Creek which flows through it. The creek also inspired one of the town's main streets - Anna Weiser Boulevard - which runs east-west between downtown and the park district. Fountain was incorporated as a village on February 1, 1901 by land grants from Lyon Co., Denver & Rio Grande Western Railway Co.. On July 24, 1907, it became a city when annexation by Grand Junction was certified by a vote of the city council. In 1959, local resident Art Roberts lobbied for an amusement park called Keystone Airport to be built on Interstate 25 just north of Fountain. The airport would provide jobs for artists and nearby residents while also providing opportunities for people to see aircraft fly overhead without having to leave their homes or take flight into Denver International Airport. However, development plans died after government planners decided that Keystone Airport would not be able to support more than 10 aircraft at any given time and that there were no other suitable sites within reach of the community. However, fountain has seen some resurgence over recent years with new economic development surrounding breweries such as Atchison Topeka Brewing Company and Golden Road Brewery being founded in Fountain Valley since 2007; these businesses have helped revive commercial activity in downtown Fountain as well as create new employment opportunities for locals.

Fountain is a small town in Chaffee County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,878 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Westminster–Adelphi, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by wagon train passengers in 1876 and named for the water fountain located on Main Street. In 1915, the first post office opened in Fountain and remained in operation until it closed in 1954. The first store opened in Fountain on Main Street and became the first incorporated business in Chaffee County. The first school was built in 1917 and operated as a one-room schoolhouse until it was replaced by a new building that served as the town hall from 1919 to 1957. The second store opened near the current courthouse and continued to operate as an independent business until it closed also in 1957. A third store opened on West First Street south of present day Fountain after residents of nearby Brighton petitioned for their own store there. That store operated continuously until 1975 when it closed due to economic problems within the community caused by an oil embargo during the Iranian Revolution. In 1976, local voters passed a referendum allowing for annexation into Westminster; however, this annexation never took place because Westminster refused to recognize Fountain as its own municipality despite its vote count exceeding Westminster's number of votes by two percentage points (1 percent difference). In 1984, fountain amalgamated with neighboring Brighton to form a single municipality under name "Fountain Borough". In 2007, following another referendum approved by voters, Fountain Borough seceded from Westminster-Adelphi Municipal District effective January 1st 2008 leaving City & School Districts unchanged but electing its own officials including Mayor & Councilors rather than being subject to either municipality’s laws or elected officials’ recommendations
