Fountain is a city in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Weld County. The name "Fountain" comes from a local stream that flows through the city. The first settlers to Fountain were James and Emma Watkins who founded the town in 1872 on land they donated to the community. In 1876, another settler named John Wells moved into Fountain and established a grocery store and post office which still operates today as Fountain Post Office & Grocery. In 1887, another settler named Wm Halsey moved into Fountain and started an ice cream parlor which continues to operate today as Halsey's Ice Cream Parlor. One of the more famous businesses in town was The Denver Times Pub which operated from 1907-1927 inside of what is now known as Turner Hall on Main Street in downtown Fountain. In 1912, two brothers by the name of Ewing bought out their brother-in-law's interest in The Denver Times Pub and began operating it under their own name as The Denver Times Cafe. They remain one of only two surviving sibling pubs licensed by the Colorado State Regents for Higher Education (CSRHE) until its closure in 2013. From 1935-1967, Fenton High School offered instruction within walking distance of central business district (CBD) located on Grant Avenue just north of I-25 exit 221A/222A near Speer Ranch Parkway/Meadowbrook Drive/Grant Ave.. The original fountain originates with Colonel John Atherton who erected a stone fountain at his home on Main Street NE corner Walnut St., c1900s while he served as Commandant at Fort Lyon Ammunition Factory southwest of town during silver strike years

Fountain is a small town in Douglas County, Colorado. The population was 707 at the 2010 census. It is located on the south side of the Jaskyl Reservoir, which forms the eastern border of Fountain. The name "Fountain" comes from an early 1864 wagon train stop called "Fountain View." A post office was opened at Fountain in 1865, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1902. The first settlers in what is now Fountain were families from Oregon who crossed the plains via Stagecoach Road to Denver during the gold rush. They arrived around 1867 and named their community Fountain because of a natural spring that they found near their camp site. In 1870, Jasper Neely founded another stagecoach stop called "Neely's Overland Station" about two miles east of present-day Fountain. Neely served as one of the first mail carriers between Denver and Boulder and also built a store and tavern there. In 1876, he sold his interest in Overland Station to Heman Kramm, who established another stage station nearby called "Kramm's Crossing." By 1880, Kramm had developed an extensive rancho (town) on both sides of Jaskyl Reservoir north of present-day Fountain where he raised hay, corn, cattle and horses for local consumption as well as shipping goods downriver to Aspen and Durango. By 1886, KRAMM'S CITY had become a thriving commercial center with several stores and two banks providing banking services for residents throughout central Colorado Territory - all before San Francisco even reached its current boundaries! During prohibition era (1937-1960), much like many other small towns across America, fountain experienced significant growth due to numerous bootlegging Runs taking place around the area! Many local breweries were destroyed or converted into liquor stores during this time period; however some notable establishments include COOPER & WALKER LUBRICANTS (now part of Pikes Peak Brewery), BUCKY BURGER BAR & GRILL (later renamed FOOD STORE OF THE HIGH COUNTRY), AND PARKWAY BAR & GRILL (later renamed FOUNTAIN BAR). In 1950s thru 1960s many people left town for jobs in larger communities such as Aspen or Durango but some returned over time including teachers/administrators from Aspen Elementary School until recently when classes disbanded there after years without any new students being enrolled
