Fountain is a small town in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 786 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ammunition production began in Fountain in 1892 and continued until 1938. In that time, it produced more than 100 million rounds of ammunition. Today's Arsenal Ammunition plant opened in 1978 and produces a wide variety of ammunition products including military, hunting and sporting goods. The company employs over 350 people across three locations in North America.

Fountain was founded in 1867 by John Fountain and his brother Amos Fountain. In 1876, the Fountain brothers built a sawmill on what is now called Main Street. The mill continued to operate until it burned down in 1902. In 1906, Buffalo Bill Cody set up his ranch here and began exhibiting American patriotry around Colorado Springs through rodeos and other events. He also constructed a water tower that still stands today as one of Fountain's most iconic landmarks. Cody's ranch eventually turned into an amusement park which includes a casino and waterpark complex today known as "Cody Park". Fountains falls within the boundaries of this park but it has never been incorporated into it officially like some other towns have done such as Northglenn and Aurora which are both very large cities with over 100,000 residents while Fountain has only 4,716 people living in it currently

Fountain is a town in Mesa County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,916 at the 2010 census. Fountain is adjacent to the towns of Scottsbluff and Westminster. The first inhabitants of Fountain were Kansa Native Americans who hunted game in the area. In 1868, James Hargrave founded a post office in what is now Fountain and named it after himself. By 1888, Fountain had a population of 350 residents. A railway was built through the area in 1892 and by 1896, there were over 2,000 people living in Fountain. The post office closed in 1902 but the community continued to grow until it reached its current size. In 1907, J C Wilson opened the first general store in this area and named it "Wilson's Drug Store". The store became one of the most popular businesses in town with locals and tourists alike coming to buy groceries or other items from Wilson's shelves. In 1916, ownership passed from James Hargrave to Hiscox & Company which ran the store until 1978 when it merged with IGA Supermarkets Incorporated to form present-day IGA Pharmacy plc.. The original fountain clock was donated by Mrs Fenton Toombs on July 4th 1935 as part of her Annual Night Out at her home which she participation organized for local children during summertime In 1952 an addition was made to downtown (now called "the riverfront") adding functions such as a movie theater (the only one remaining) as well as restaurants (Buca di Beppo), drugstores (Newman's) and hardware stores (). One year later another addition was made - an ice cream parlor (. . .) This business operated continuously until 1979 when it too merged with IGA Supermarkets Incorporated to form present day IGA Pharmacy plc.. After years of growth within both Post Office Square () and Downtown (), Interstate 25 bypassed Fountain altogether forming what is now known as North Scottsbluff Boulevard(). This event forever changed how people viewed this small town by making it easier for shoppers travelling eastbound on Interstate 25 to reach their destination without having to go down Meadow Street () or southbound on South Scottsbluff Boulevard (). Today many residents still refer secretly – or openly - to Interstate 25 being dubbed "The Junction" because that's where they think all shopping ends...
Fountain was first settled in 1859 by the United States Army. The town was named for the Colorado River that flows through it. Fountain grew rapidly and by 1865 had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1872, the railroad arrived and caused an even faster growth in Fountain. By 1907, Fountain had a population of over 5,000 people. The growth stopped abruptly during World War II due to the scarcity of food storage space and housing. The community restarted its growth after the war but again slowed down during the 1970s and 1980s due to economic recession. In recent years, there has been an increase in development in Fountain as new businesses have opened up and more people have moved into the area.
