It became an important center for ammunition production, and by 1912 had become one of the leading airgunUsage areas in the United States. In 1933, the Fort Morgan Arsenal opened to serve Fort Morgan and other nearby communities with firearms, ammunition, and other related products. The arsenal continued to be operated until it was closed in 1975. During its operation,Fort Morgan produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition and firearms including rifles, shotguns, handguns, grenades, torpedoes, planes/airplanes/firearms (including machineguns), artillery pieces and model trains
