The first ammunition factory in Fort Collins was founded in 1887 by George A. Hill and Wm. H. Forney. The company manufactured muskets, pistols, shotguns, rifles and artillery rounds. By 1912, the company had expanded to include a munitions manufacturing plant that produced shot grenades and incendiary projectiles as well as rifle cartridges and shotgun shells. In 1916, the company became known as United States Ammunition Company Limited. It continued to produce ammunition until it ceased operations in 1938 due to World War II shortages of foreign materials. Today, United States Ammunition Company Limited’s legacy continues on through its namesake business; United States Ammunition Corporation (USAC). USAC manufactures both reloadable firearms magazines and muzzleloaders for use with various calibers of rifles, shotguns and handguns across multiple brands including Glock®, Smith & Wesson® revolvers®, Kimber® 1911 pistols™ etc.. Fort Collins (population: 126,000) is a city in Larimer County, Colorado, United States. The population was 143,827 in 2010. Fort Collins became a city on December 12, 1994. The original town site was located on the east side of the Arkansas River and included most of downtown. The name "Fort Collins" comes from an early settler account which said that General George Armstrong Custer fought his final battle at this location in 1876. The Battle of Fort Collins took place near present-day Hill 25th Street and East Seventh Avenue on April 14, 1875 between American forces commanded by Major General James Fetterman and Indian Chief Little Big Horn. Ulysses S. Grant's army was attempting to cross the river from Kansas into Nebraska; when they were met by 3 Sioux warriors led by Horn who told them that the fortifications around Fort Collins were impregnable and that any attempt to enter would be suicidal; Grant ordered his troops to withdraw instead of engaging the Sioux militants. A plaque honors Custer's death at this location as well as other battlefield events in Larimer County during the late 1800s including battles such as Blue Water Creek (1898), Pikes Peak (1904), and Sand Creek (1863). In 1914, construction began on what would become known as "The University", one of the largest university campuses in North America at time with more than 100 buildings spread over an area including 6 blocks east of Main Street across Frome Road from where today's CU Health Sciences Campus meets Interstate 25 southbound just west of 9th Ave NW Inaugurated on October 1st 1915 enrollment had reached 30 000 students with facilities including libraries science departments law schools engineering faculties math departments social work faculties medical schools it also housed a football stadium athletics hall tennis arena basketball arena revolver range pistol range And post office annexes all these were for use By Students not Faculty or Staff and finally The first American school staffed completely by girls dormitories With teachers living quarters And kitchens Offices Were opened On November 17th 1916 Named after Mrs Gertrude Himmelwald who Paid For It Now Known As Ladies Hall After her death This building now houses Headquarters Of Department Of Physical Education For The StateOf Colorado Armistice Day 1921 Allotted To Another University But Which Ever Became One Of Our Universities Said Her husband Colonel Charles Ewing Himmelwald Who Was President At That Time
