Evans is a small town in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. Evans is part of the Metropolitan Denver Area. It is one of two towns in Clear Creek County that were not incorporated as municipalities until 2004. The first settlement in Evans was made by pioneers who arrived in 1876. The town was named after General George Washington Evans, Jr., who served as a Colonel in the Union Army during the American Civil War and died from wounds received at Gettysburg. A post office called Indianola was established in 1879, and it continued to be used until 1907. In 1904, Evans incorporation occurred when all of Clear Creek County became an organized county under the laws of Colorado. On November 3, 2004, Evans voters approved an amendment to its municipal charter which changed its name to "Evans". The economy of Evans is based on agriculture and ranching with some commercial activity also present including a small grocery store and several restaurants/cafés since 2005 when the opening of Jack's Pizza replaced what had been a local service station for almost 50 years

By 1877, the Zeiss company had produced its first microscope with a objectives of 100x magnification. In 1888, Wilhelm Kapp designed and built the world's first true 3D microscope, which allowed scientists to see three-dimensional objects inside their own body.
Evans, Colorado was founded in 1876 by John Evans, a Texas-born rancher and landowner. The town sprang up around the original store and post office, which were built on the site of an old stagecoach stop. Evans became a leading figures in the early days of local ranching and mining. He was elected sheriff of Arapahoe County in 1892 and served for many years. In 1902 he sold his holdings in the county to become one of the founding members of The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Evans played an important role in developingwestern Colorado as a center for oil production and commerce. He died in Evansville, Indiana, in 1951.
Evans was a small settlement in Moffat County, Colorado, located on the east side of the San Juan Mountains. Evans post office was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it closed in 1909. The town had two stores and one school.
