Evans, Colorado is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greeley–Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Evans community was named for Jesse Evans who platted the area in 1876. A post office called Evans was established in 1883, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first settler to come to Evans was John Witherspoon. He erected a cabin on the east side of North Avenue in 1887. By 1912 there were 12 businesses operating in the community with an average of 100 customers per day. The first school opened in 1916 and operated until 1968 when it closed due to budget cuts by the government. The current school building was built in 1984 and still serves as its primary purpose today. In 1969, one of the first churches organized in Weld County had its meeting place near where present-day First Baptist Church stands on North Avenue; that church later moved to what is now Uptown Park Cemetery which also served as their meeting place from then on. Today Evans has a strong cultural center presence with several museums including Iron Horse Museum and History Museum (opened September 20th), Monument Valley Museum (October 10th), Rocky Mountain Folklife Center (November 13th) and Pikes Peak Science Center (January 7th). There are also several restaurants including Griddle House BBQ & Brewery and Pie Plate Pizza Company which serve up great food all around town! Plus there's always something going on at Springs Recreation Complex like summer basketball or volleyball games or just some family fun!

In 1907, Professors Willard Fenton and Brigham Young University professor Soren Kierkegaard donated land to create what is now called University Park which served as a campus for both schools until 1963 when they merged again to form Colorado State University. After many years of growth, Evans reached its current size in 2000 when the annexation of neighboring towns made them one city with a total population of over 50,000 people. Today, Evans remains an important center for retail commerce and education within North America due to its booming economy and growing population
