The community experienced rapid growth during World War II as many war-time industries came online such as aircraft manufacturing in Telluride Springs or munitions plant near Canon City; both towns experienced significant growth during wartime period which led to increased development around Evans until it reached its current size by 1970 when overall population declined due to low birth rates among local residents combined with increasing suburbanization throughout Weld County
