In 1892, Colorado passed an act creating a state militia, and this gave rise to the Evans Gun Grip Company. The company was founded by John Evans with one goal in mind: making sure all Coloradans could carry firearms safely and lawfully. The company has been manufacturing grips for handguns and shotguns for over 100 years, and its products are used by law enforcement officers across the state of Colorado.

In Evans, Colorado, there is history with handguns. The first handgun in Evans was a muzzleloader brought over by the US Cavalry in 1876. It was used to hunt game and survive during the winter. In 1903, the Evans Rifle Club was founded and began buying and selling rifles. In 1907, they started carrying pistols as well. The first Glock pistol was bought here in Evans in 1998.
Evans is a small, unassuming town in southern Colorado. It is located on the banks of the Arkansas River, about 15 miles south of the state capital,Denver. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. Evans started as a small farming community in 1875. Over time it grew into a regional center for coal mining and ranching. In the 1920s Evans became an important stop on Route 66, which linked east-west America. The economy has changed dramatically since then; Evans now primarily serves as a bedroom community for Denver and its surrounding suburbs. The town was named for Captain John C. Evans, who served with distinction in Union Army during the American Civil War (1865-1871). Afterward he resumed his civilian life in Edwardsville and purchased 4,000 acres of land here to develop into what would become Evans. He named his new community after himself and founded a school and post office here in 1876. By 1909 Evans had over 10 businesses including two stores, five grists mills, two sawmills and four wagon roads serving local residents and travelers alike. Mining continued to be an important aspect of local economy until the early 1960s; much of the coal that was mined here still remains today in various form or trade through localГўchurches like First Baptist Church (founded 1921), Valley View Congregational Church (1925) and Stonington United Methodist Church (1963). In 1932 construction began on Interstate 25 which connected Evans with Chicago via Denver; this highway greatly increased access to resources around Evans from outside of town. Today there are no active businesses within town limits other than retail establishments providing services related to housing developments located nearby such as Thornton Ranch Village IHOP & Subway Express(1994), Bechtel Homebuilder(2006), etc.; all other commercial properties have closed down or been sold off over time

In 1876, Andrew Evans and his brother founded the town of Evans in eastern Colorado. The townsite was located on a high plateau that overlooked the Arkansas River. The two brothers named their town after themselves, which is why Evans is also known as "The Brothers Town." In 1870, the Evans brothers built a log cabin near what is now the Evans Museum. They farmed and trading with Native American tribes helped to develop the area around Evans. By 1881, Evan's population had grown to about 200 people. The town became an important stop on the stagecoach route between Denver and Cheyenne. When gold was discovered in nearby Animas County in 1885, Evan's merchants quickly realized that this was their chance to make some serious money. They leased land from Cripple Creek Coal Company and started mining for gold. Over time, Evan became one of Colorado's leading gold Mines. By 1897, there were over 2,000 miners working atevans Gold Mine alone. During World War I (1914-1918), Evans served as a military base for troops stationed in western Colorado during both World Wars I and II (1914-1946). During these years, many local businesses were Lost Creek Brewery (now Anheuser Busch) and First National Bank (now Jardine Financial Group). In 1950, Andrew Evan died suddenly at age 74 after a long illness; his son continued operations until his death in 1985.
