The first mayor of Erie was Harry Wickersham who served from 1912 until 1916. He included development within his agenda for the town which he saw as key to its future success due to its location upstream from major industrial plants on both sides of the Susquehanna River valley which would later contribute to its rapid growth over time as well as becoming an engine for economic development throughout much of rural Weld County during this period- particularly thanks to several large construction projects that took place over this timeframe such as Interstate 25 through town (the biggest project ever undertaken in Weld County) while also creating thousands jobs directly or indirectly throughout much of our region thanks to manufacturing companies relocated here during these years including Alcoa Aluminum Company (now known as Alpha Natural Resources), Boeing Aircraft Company (now Lockheed Martin), General Electric Company (now GEICO), Pabst Brewing Corporation (founded by Adolphus Pabst himself), Mead Johnson Foods Corporation (founded by John Hutton Johnson) among many others Erie experienced rapid growth following its incorporation into municipal government in 1912 however municipal services were not yet available for all residents until 1915 when water service arrived via pipeline from nearby Fort Collins allowing for greater accessability for everyone within town limits without havingto leave their homes!
