Englewood is a town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 6,824 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Collins–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Englewood post office was established on November 1, 1876, and continued operation until it merged with Aspen late in that year. The town name originates from "Englewood" (originally spelled "Englewood"), a settlement near the junction of U.S. Highway 25 and Route 66 in central Colorado Territory during the early 1800s. The first village site in what is now Englewood wasestablished at the intersection of present-day U.S. Highway 25 and Routes 66 and 285 on April 3, 1892 by seven men who had come to claim land granted to them by then-President Benjamin Harrison for their military services during the Spanish-American War. In 1906, when Aspen incorporated as a city, Englewood became its first borough seat; however, it remained listed as an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became part of Aspen proper within that city boundaries. In 2002, changes were made to local zoning laws which led to two large new subdivisions - Deer Park Heights and Northpark - both located just east of downtown Englewood between I-25/Route 26 and Deer Park Road/Routes 287 and 302 respectively; these developments have brought much needed retail development to what had been otherwise an agricultural area primarily used for agriculture or ranching operations since its earliest days as a settlement dating back over 400 years ago! Englewood is a city in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 27,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Englewood settlement was laid out in 1872 by J.C. Nichols and named after Englewood, England. A post office called Englewood was opened in 1875, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. The community coalesced around a Methodist Church which had been organized there in 1879. In 1888 the cemetery association became a town corporation and changed its name to Englewood Village on July 1st of that year The original village was located along what is nowMain Street and First Avenue North; it included only one block of land north of those streets. The first school building (a barn) was built on Main Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues North in 1888; it served as both public school and municipal meeting place for the village until 1902 when an addition were made to School District No 8 which moved the Municipal Meeting Place to Aurora Boulevard east of I-25 near Walnut Creek Boulevard though it remains known as "Old School" to this day In 1903 the Uptown Theatre Corporation leased land next door to School District No 8 for use as their own theater district, with stages being built on Third Avenue South (later renamed Cherry Lane) between Eighth and Ninth Streets South from 1905-1910 while also constructing an auditorium on Second Avenue North across from Uptown Theatre Corporation headquarters (now called Town Hall). That same year saw the opening of Keystone Kops by Paramount Pictures at 820 2nd Ave #2B northwest corner of Washington Blvd., followed by Loews Regency Theater at 720 Jefferson St SW later renamed Regency Ballroom before becoming CenturyLink Field home field during its time as Mile High Stadium starting with its construction following World War II Though originally planned as a single movie theater complex consisting of two theaters each side facing Jefferson St SW/NW corner - one within sight of Regency Ballroom - due to financial reasons Keystone Kops opened up into several smaller screens throughout its run including one outside immediately adjacent then inside Metro State Arena – eventually operating over 350 screens worldwide making it one of largest exhibitors ever ! On December 5th 1916 citizens voted 26% yes against annexation into Denver through referendum passed by majority vote ; however since annexation didn’t take place until 1907 all property within current boundaries still stands contiguous with Mineral Hill neighborhoods today !! annexation date could have been November 14th 1912 but that may be incorrect because residents did not have voting rights then
In 1871, Englewood was the first incorporated town in Colorado. The population of the town was 567 at its incorporation. In 1907, Englewood became a city and had a population of over 10,000 people.
