In 1896, John Davenport founded the newspaper "Colorado Springs Daily Sentinel". In 1902, he sold it to J.P. Morgan & Co., who published it until 1956 when it became an independent company again under the name "Colorado Springs Gazette". In 1903, a group of citizens led by Hiram Lodge formed a new society called the Masonic Order of Colorado Springs (MOCS). They approved their first constitution and adopted their first motto: "E pluribus unum" ("Out of many there is one"). The MOCS operated as an auxiliary lodge to Fidelity Lodge No. 527 until 1951 when they merged with Fidelity Lodge No. 469 to form Englewood Masons' Lodge No. 792 today." Fidelity Lodge #527 served as meeting place for Englewood Masons' Lodge from 1951-1986 before moving eastward into Commerce City in 1986 . On April 10 th 1893 John Davenport donated land west of current day Englewood Avenue for use as an Agricultural Experiment Station (now known as National Renewable Energy Laboratory). This donation marked the beginning of what would become CU Boulder’s successful renewable energy program with its purchase of 1/4 acre (0.2 hectares) surrounding mesa every year until 1990! Today we still own this parcel and use it allotmentally during experimental periods!"

Englewood (1824-1883), an American general who fought in the Mexican-American War and served as commissioner of Indian Affairs under President Ulysses S. Grant. In 1892, the post office moved to its current location on State Street just north of Englewood Boulevard. The first Englewood school was built in 1886 and became known as "Old High School." In 1908 it became "Englewood Academy," which still operates today as a private elementary/middle school with students from prekindergarten through eighth grade (). After years of growth and development, the city limits were expanded to encompass all of Weld County in 1912 when it annexed parts of Grand Junction () and Emmett Township (). There have been many different businesses that have operated within the city limits over time: insurance companies such as Farmers Insurance Company (), real estate firms such as Goudreau & Associates (), banks such as First National Bank (), airlines such as United Airlines () and Mesa Air Lines (), breweries (). However, large corporations have always been rarer than smaller businesses, which has led to some animosity between residents and these larger entities (). Today, Englewood is a mix of residential neighborhoods with retail spaces dominant along State Street; government buildings including two courthouses (); churches (); schools (); theaters (); golf courses (); restaurants (); bars ()); and other businesses (). Although there are periodic riots or protests by local residents against outside forces that they feel do not share their own values (), overall Englewoods community spirit has been generally positive since its incorporation into the municipality more than seventy years ago
Engelwood is a town in Moffat County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Westminster Micropolitan Statistical Area. The community was named after George Engelwood, an early settler in the area. Engelwood post office opened on November 3, 1876 and closed on January 6, 1899. The town was re-established on July 1, 1907 by consolidation of the villages of Bellefontaine and Englewood. The name "Englewood" originated from a family estate that once stood in the community. Englewood has a humid continental climate (Köppen Climate Classification "Dfb"), characterized by warm to hot summers and cold to snowy winters; it averages about 62 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.
