This unique form of government helped keep Englewood separate from Aurora while also providing some limited services such as zoning control and property taxes to both municipalities. In recent years however there has been growing controversy over MoeEglington's lack of autonomy within Adams County while also facing criticism from residents about infrastructure projects – most notably an expansion into what once was known as South Park which will add another 1,000 homes to the already burgeoningarea – that have not yet begun despite promises by county officials. These problems have led some people to call for MoeEglington's dissolution entirely due to flaws in how it functions rather than just decreasing its autonomy overall given that this form of governance does not seem able to properly address certain concerns about increasing density near busy areas like Engelwilde Elementary School & Highline Soccer Stadium."

The first Englewood residents were pioneers who arrived in 1876 and platted the village on land that now includes most of Englewood Village and parts of North Englewood. The name comes from an early settler, Elisha K. Engle, Sr., who named his property "Engle Wood." In 1902, when Denver and Aurora were merged to form the Denver-Aurora-Lake Oswego metropolitan area, Englewood became one of its component towns. At the time it had a population of about 350 people and was located in what is today North Englewood Village. In 1964, as part of Amendment 2 to the Colorado Constitution, voters approved a plan to move the corporate headquarters for Salt Lake City-based Deseret Industries from Provo, Utah to Commerce City in Englewood. The company moved into its new building on Sheridan Boulevard in 1974 after relocating from Los Angeles. At that time there were only 7 businesses in town (including three restaurants) with a total population of about 100 people; today there are over 30 businesses with a combined population of over 2,000 people and more than 100 local jobs within walking or biking distance of each business!
