Englewood is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,149 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of the Denver metropolitan area and is served by Englewood Village and Englewood High School. The community began as a frontier outpost in 1879 near what is now Deming and was named for Elijah P. Engle (1817-1893), an early settler in that area. In 1886,Englewood became part of the newly formed city of Denver, and its name changed to Englewood Village after Elijah P.'s son Heman P. Engle donated land for that purpose. The village had a post office from 1886 until 1907; it closed due to lack of mail service whenDenver opened its own post office in 1911.* In 1924, two blocks west of downtown Denver,Englewood built its first civic building: A $5 million (2006 dollars) facility designed by architects JPL Group Incorporated and completed in 1929 as the first municipally owned high school in Colorado.* That same year also saw the opening of Englewood's first shopping center: The Park Mall Shopping Center which included four anchor stores including Sears & Roebuck* (*Sears & Roebuck moved out within 5 years). In 1957*,Englewood opened its second civic building: A $10 million (2006 dollars) facility designed by architect diMaggio Associates Incorporated which includes a large gymnasium/arena as well as classrooms and other facilities used by both public schools within city limits as well as private academies* (*A new high school was built adjacent to DiMaggio's original school buildingsin 2006). In 1966*,the city annexed portions of neighboring Thornton Community School District; this led to the reopening of Thornton High School serving students from those annexations. In 1971*,the City Council voted to rename Engle wood "Park" after then Mayor Richard Buell Jr.'s daughter Jane Park* [*Jane Park served from 1974-1981]. In 2002*,a major renovation project at park mall increased retail sales around campus by 30%. OnePhase Properties LLC purchased one block north of park mall from AnheuserBusch Brewery† [*AnheuserBusch Brewery left town en masse followingmarket restructuring] with plans to redevelop it into mixed-use development featuring restaurants, hotels**** (*Hilton has since taken over*/ *) ,and offices*****. OnePhase Properties LLC remains involved with Parkside redevelopment efforts today *****.

Englewood, Colorado was founded in 1876 by two men from Ohio, James Englewood and George Stephenson. The city is located in the Rocky Mountains and has a population of over 100,000 today. It is home to Englewood High School, one of the largest high schools in the Western United States. The city also has a number of businesses and organizations that have their roots in Englewood's history. The firstEnglewood post office was established in 1879. In 1902, the city incorporated as a borough. In 1912, it became a village and then an incorporated town in 1934. Today, Englewood is considered one of the most diverse cities in Colorado with residents coming from all over the country. One of the earliest businesses to be established in Englewood was the Publishing House which was founded by John Atherton and Charles Beard on December 12th, 1876. This business printed periodicals such as "The Denver Times" and "The Republican". Other early businesses included Price's grocery store (1877), Murphy Bros., harness store (1878), J&J tire store (1881), Neely’s general store (1882), Pritchard & Son bakery (1885), Henschel’s hardware store(1910) and Gamberger Drug Store(1920). Today's most famous institution within EngleWOOD isEngel Woods Golf Course which opened its doors to golfers on May 6th, 1901 followed by Amateur Play on November 5th that same year! The course has seen many revisions throughout its history including being closed for 3 years due to bad weather during World War II while also receiving $5 million dollars worth of renovations between 1998-2002 making it one of the most modern golf courses availablein North America! In 1954, EngelWood voters passed an ordinance establishing zoning regulations for light industrial development within its boundaries which would ultimately lead to more than 200 companies moving into or expanding intoEngelWood over ensuing decades! Some of these companies included PepsiCo., Intel®, Motorola Mobility®, Microsoft®, Qualcomm®, HP/, Quicken Loans(), Barnes & Noble(), Ford Motor Company(), AMD (), Adobe Systems()and many more! Today there are so many businesses that have been established withinenglwood that it can be difficult to determine where each individual company began! However some notable examples include Apple Incorporated (), Boeing Co., PepsiCo., Lockheed Martin Corporation (), Mastercard International Incorporated (), Comcast ()and many more!
