Aurora got its start as a small town near Fort Collins but quickly grew into one of America's leading agricultural communities due to its fertile soil and ample water resources. When railroads reached Aurora in 1893 they began transporting goods northward from nearby Telluride Springs and Commerce City respectively; this increased business opportunities for both towns which helped them grow even faster than their rural counterparts In 1907 when Denver became one municipality it annexed portions of Arvada and Centennial Hill becoming what is today known as NortheastDenver or simply Northeast .
