In 1901, the Colorado legislature passed an act that authorized the creation of a police department in Commerce City. The Police Department was established on December 1, 1901. One of its first officers was Constable John Hatton. On January 6, 1902, the department adopted a new name: Colorado State Police. The Colorado State Police continued to grow at a rapid pace and within 10 years had reached its current size with over 100 officers. In 1912 they purchased their present headquarters in what is now called theConstitution Building. On July 17, 1930, an amendment to the state Constitution provided for statewide prohibition of alcoholic beverages and this led to increased law enforcement activity by the Colorado State Police as well as other state agencies concerned with enforcing prohibition laws. On May 8, 1933, following repeal of Prohibition in all but four U.S states (including Colorado), the Colorado State Patrol became an independent agency known as the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Police Department (DAMPD). 1
Commerce City is a small city in the US state of Colorado. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the County of Arapahoe and straddles both sides of I-25. Commerce City is bordered by Denver to the north and east, Golden to the south and west, and Pueblo to the northwest. The downtown area includes several dozen businesses, including two large banks and two major shopping malls. The first permanent settler in Commerce City was James Fenton who arrived in 1859. The town name was chosen in honor of John Dickson Cooke who had donated land for a railroad station near what is now Downtown Commerce City. In 1867, John Wesley Powell discovered gold at Gold Hill which led to further development in this area around that time. Commerce City experienced some growth during World War II as it became one of several locations where military personnel were housed while they mined uranium ore from nearby hillsides. Afterward, much commerce focused on surrounding smaller communities such as Aurora or MetropolitanDenver until new Interstate 25 bypassed Commerce City altogether when it was completed in 1984. Today, many people still live within easy reach of Downtown Commerce City through its concentrated business district and social amenities like parks and libraries

Commerce City is a small town in Routt County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Collins– Dinosaur National Monument. The first people to live in Commerce City were the Arapaho and Kiowa who built their homes on the north side of the Animas River. In 1859, when Colorado became an independent state, John Wesley Powell led an expedition up river to tout the potential for gold in what is now Wyoming. When he arrived in Commerce City, he found that no one had heard of it and decided to explore further. He named the town after himself and his exploration team: "Powell's Valley". In 1875, George Hearn started a gristmill here which began grinding corn for local farmers. By 1907 there were over 20 businesses in Commerce City with over 100 employees! The mill continued to operate until 1971. Today there are only 4 businesses left in town- all averaging less than 10 workers! One of commerce city’s most famous residents was businessman Howard Hughes who moved to Commerce City from Hollywood in 1948 and made his home here until his death in 1991….. Prior to this, Hughes resided primarily at 5555 E First Ave., Los Angeles CA 90023 where he employed more than 300 people during his heyday as a businessman Today many aspects of life have changed since then such as satellite dishes coming into common use through analog TV providers or even internet connections through high speed fiber optic cables………. However some things have not changed such as Main Street still being lined with friendly businesses that offer services including transportation (Uber/Lyft), dog walking/walking dog services and much more…………..
Commerce City is a city in Adams County, Colorado, United States. The population was 25,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area. Commerce City was founded in 1868 as a trading post on the Tennessee River by John C. Fremont and other early settlers. The town was named after George Mercer Commerce, an American lawyer and politician who served as Mayor of Denver from 1904 to 1906 and Governor of Colorado from 1912 to 1916. The first post office in Commerce City opened on December 12, 1868, under the name of "Fremontville". The present-day downtown district was built between 1870 and 1880 during the late 19th century boom period for agriculture around what is now North First Street and South Main Street. Downtown commerce grew rapidly due to its location near two major riverside crossings: the Arkansas River upstream on Main Street and the Missouri River downstream on Tennessee Avenue. In 1887, Merchants National Bank moved into new ground adjacent to what is now First Avenue (now Delaware Street) with space for up to 100 employees. In 1907, First National Bank became America's first commercial bank west of Kansas City when it merged with Merchants National Bank. By 1910, there were more than 500 businesses operating in downtown Commerce City – many of which remain today including JCPenney department store (opened 1926), PepsiCo Inc.'s Oldsmobile dealership across Delaware Street from McConnell Air Force Base (opened 1988), Pacific Gas & Electric Company's Energy Center building (opened 1990), Continental Tire's original tire plant across Second Avenue from Interstate 25 (opening 1957), Pueblo Mercantile Co.'s Western shop at Fourth Avenue south of I-25 (closed 2006) – making it one of largest cities in Colorado without any single retail tenant dominating entire blocks or districts within its core shopping area like Denver does today with similar proportions of large anchor stores such as Macy's Department Store or Sears Department Stores along High streets while smaller tenants fill open spaces between larger anchors providing diversity in shopping experiences for residents throughout every neighborhood within downtown cores large or small
