Commerce City is a small town in Southern Colorado, located on the South Platte River just west of State Highway 24. The population was 1,684 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Pueblo-Juana Census Area. The first settlement in Commerce City was made by prospectors and Developers named Houghton and Kapp in 1876. The name "Commerce" was given to the town because it had been a trading post on the Arkansas River for several years before that. The first railroad station in Commerce City was built in 1885 by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. The first store opened in 1886, with J.B. Pitman as the owner and manager. By 1890, there were six stores open along Main Street with a total of two hundred residents. In 1893, John Denny founded what became known as Denny's Brewery which produced beer until 1942 when it merged into Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company

Commerce City is a small town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 459 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Collins–Aurora metropolitan area. The first post office in Commerce City was established on February 14, 1877, and served as the second largest post office in Colorado behind Pueblo. Commerce City was founded by Alexander Campbell and his brother-in-law John Bradbury in 1872 as a trading base for fur traders working their way up the Arkansas River valley. By 1875, it had become an important commercial center due to its location near the mouth of the Little Colorado River and its access to railroads. A two-story courthouse was built in 1876, and a four-story building known as "The White House" added to the community in 1886. Commerce City experienced some growth during World War I due to its strategic location between Denver and Fort Collins on both banks of the Arkansas River. Most notably, Commerce City became home to Fort Carson Army Base (later Camp Bowie) which housed soldiers from many countries during World War I. In 1920, Commerce City annexed nearby Goshen after that village withdrew from incorporation into Greeley because of problems with water rights dating back to the 1800s. In 1925, when Greeley annexed Castle Rock Village addition thereto pursuant to provisions of state law governing annexation proceedings at that time, Castle Rock also joined Greeley within what would come to be known as The Two Cities area: one composed of city limits plus any annexed villages until 1958 when all towns south of Interstate 25 were incorporated intoDenver proper; while those north of Interstate25 continued with their own boundaries until 1996 when they were merged into The Metro Area designation covering all unincorporated areas east of Interstate 25 within this newly designated municipality boundaries – including CommerceCity itself! Although not contiguous with either Denver or Aurora by any means (the latter being much further north), there was certainly an unmistakable feeling among residents living within these limits that they constituted something akin unto themselves! And so it befell that despite having no municipal government other than police and fire services (and even those being rather limited in scope), commerce quickly began burgeoning along side rapid economic development without any significant opposition from either party; although some taxes did eventually need to be raised beginning around 1940 due primarilyto rising expenses associated with defense spending during World War II! This pattern would continue unabated well into The Cold War era through growing suburbanization across portions of Weld County such asCommerceCity – resulting ultimately in a diminution or abolition thereofof most public services deemed necessary for peacetime’s needs! Although prices for goods & services have generally been relatively stable throughout this period (+/- 2% annually), real estate values have often seen more pronounced roofies over recent years culminating currently at an approximate $225/square foot notwithstanding various attempts by Mayor Randy Bryce (& Councilmember Angela Davis) over recent years “to bring back some sense[ ]” emanating from downtown ever since late last year following cityhood efforts 😎 . So yes folks – if you think about it long enough you can start making connections between things 😎 . But still…. pretty Wings Overdrive amidst all this 🙂
