In 1907, when Business City became a dry town (the last such municipality in Colorado), citizens voted to annex part of unincorporated Broomfield County so that they could have easy access to vital water resources necessary for their growing economy. This event marked the beginning of BusinessCity’s long relationship with agriculture as its primary economic base; today’s agricultural sector remains one of the city’s key strengths. At that time, the area was still part of Mexico but had become US territory following the Mexican–American War (1846–48). After being renamed as US territory following war victory over Mexico, Grand Junction became home to some of America's most important miners - many of whom were from Scotland - as well as businessmen looking for an inland base for their operations due to growing hostilities between America and Spain over control of California. This led to Businessman Simon Cameron founding The Cameron Company here in 1879 which operated until 1923 when it merged with another local business interest called The Northern Mines & Manufacturing Company to form Northern Mines Corporation which continued operation until 1984 when it merged with Rio Tinto Plc.. During much of its history CCMI played key role within Colorado’s mining industry serving both as operator and supplier providing services such as mine design/layout assistance plus ore grading/ transportation; marketing materials such as prospectus/ maps etc.; power generation necessary for day-to-day operations while also maintaining open pits throughout the courseof work supplied clean water necessary for daily operations without any use outside contractors or third party involvement; maintenance activities including general cleaning/maintenance ongoing repairs required items such as air filters furnace filters pumps etc.; occasional diamond polishing services provided by outside contractor(s); insurance support provided on behalfofthecompanybymanagerialstaffuntil1984whenitmergedwithRioTintoPlc..
