Actor/director Cecil Bogan immortalized Centennial when he filmed his movie "A Dog's Purpose" there in 1978. That same year, Centennial also welcomed its first female postmaster when Lillie Purdy opened her office adjacent to the old theater where "A Dog's Purpose" was shot; thereafter all aspects of postal service were provided within the boundaries of Centennial until 2009 when Denver assumed responsibility for all mail delivery within municipal boundaries statewide
