The Centennial Rifle and Pistol Club was organized in 1903. The original members were six men from Centennial, Colorado. This rifle and pistol club met at the home of Tom Vinson for two weeks in late May, 1903. Mr. Vinson was a gunslinger who had emigrated to Colorado from Kentucky in 1879. He was a member of the Rocky Mountains Rifle Association and helped found the club. The first meeting of the Century Rifle and Pistol Club took place on Friday, May 25th, 1903 at the home of Tom Vinson in Centennial, Colorado. This meeting was attended by six men from Centennial: John Sibley (president), Willard Garrison (vice president), Harry Witherspoon (secretary), Frank Fenton (treasurer), and J.K. Butchart (second secretary). At this first meeting we decided to adopt a constitution and bylaws which are as follows: "This club is hereby constituted with but one object - to promote shooting sports within its precincts." In 1905 we adopted an “All-male” policy which prohibited women membership until 1952 when they were allowed with certain conditions including wearing skirts below knee level or pants that extended below the ankle

In 1861, General John Custer was killed at Little Bighorn by Native Americans under orders from Ulysses S Grant. This event helped spark what is now known as the Gold Rush era of Colorado settlement. Thousands of people travel to Denver every year to participate in this rush for gold - many search abandoned mines or dig through sandstone cliffsides near downtown Denver in order to finduggets worth millions of dollars! On November 1st 1876, Centenary was founded as an unincorporated community located within present-day Rocky Mountain County by citizens who desired a name that would commemorate their belief that their small town had played an important role during America's first century (the first half of this millennium). Centennial, Colorado is a small town located in Douglas County, Colorado. The population was 694 at the 2000 census. Centennial has been the location of numerous cultural events throughout its history and celebrates its centennial this year as well. The first people to live in Centennial were the Pueblo of Ojibwe people. They arrived in 1847 and built the original log cabin that is now known as The Cabin on the Hill. In 1868, Centennial became incorporated as a town. It was named for General George Armstrong Custer who died during World War I in overseas combat. Centennial experienced significant growth during World War II with the influx of soldiers and their families. More than 4,000 residents moved into Centennial from all over Colorado and Wyoming between 1942-1945. This activity led to Centennial becoming one of America's most heavily populated towns during that time period. In 1957, Centenary elected its first female Mayor, Louise Aiken Wright. Wright served until her death in 1978 after serving two terms without interruption. In 1990, Centenary elected its first openly gay mayor when Jameson Ladd took office following the resignation of his predecessor Gaylord Nelson Jr.. Ladd served two terms before leaving office due to health concerns related to AIDS). Since then, many other notable civic leaders have taken office including: Donna Frye (2007-2011), Kathy Tran (2012-2015), John Suthers (2016-present) and Evelyn Rodriguez (2018-present). Many new businesses have also opened up around town since being given permission by local government to do so; some of which include Jamba Juice, Pizza Hut and Dunkin' Donuts among others!
