Centennial is a town in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the east bank of the Arkansas River and is between Aspen and Westminster on the south side of the river. Centennial is part of the Westminster-Aspen-Aurora metropolitan statistical area. The first settler in Centennial was John Sutter, who arrived in 1855. He founded what became known as Sutter's Fort on Main Street (laterchanged to Centennial Boulevard). In 1876, Benjamin Bristow donated land near Centennial for a school and church. In 1892, Centennial had its official incorporation as a town under the name "Centennial." In 1912, centenary voters approved an ordinance providing for daycare services for children living within one mile of any public primary or secondary school in Canaan Valley School District No. 2. That same year saw enactment of state law 919(a), which established countywide zoning for towns with more than 5,000 residents so that they could create their own governing bodies—the first such law in Colorado. In 1977, when Jefferson County was created from portions of Adams and Larimer Counties, Centennial became one of its seven villages (along with Aspen Village, Aurora Village, Green Lake Village,-Lakewood Village,-Pine Creek Villages) withinJefferson County's new government structure; it remained an unincorporated village until 1988 when it became a full-time municipality under state statute 919(b). In 2006–2007 renovations were completed to renovated State Capitol Complex which includes: new legislative chambers/meeting spaces; original Legislative Annex Building which served as office space for both Houses during operations from 1906 to 1976; renovated Renowned General Motors dealership across from courthouse; and garden areas surrounding building housing restaurants and retail stores along with other community amenities including library and health clinic facilities

Centennial is a town in Garfield County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,572 at the 2010 census. Centennial was founded on July 4, 1876, by Captain John H. Castle and his wife Eliza Ann Castle. The first post office in Centennial was established on July 4, 1876. The first settler to arrive in what is now Centennial was Captain John H. Castle who built a cabin on the east side of Centennial Creek and named it "Castle City." On April 10th 1877 Captains George and James Winchester arrived from Illinois with their families and set up shop in the same area as Captains Castle and Mrs Winchester. By 1880 there were over 20 residents living in the town of Centennial including 5 Postmasters Assistant to Captain WIlliam Denny who served from 1880 until his death in 1902 On October 15th 1890 Charles Cramer married Anna Kapp from Park Hills, Kansas he had been living some time before near Pueblo which would later become part of Denver From here forward people started moving into Centennials even more because railroad came through so frequently bringing jobs to everybody
