After World War II ended, many families left rural areas for cities like Denver because of economic opportunities available there and more affordable housing prices within walking distance of grocery stores and schools). However, many others decided to stay put because they found good farmland nearby or because they had familial ties to the community which still exists today (many descendants live on Fifth Street near Main Street).
