In 1865 Rocky Mountain Mining Company (RMMC) was formed with help from banker Andrew Carnegie to develop thisSilver mine into one of America's most powerful mining companies by 1897 when it produced more than $1 billion worth of silver ore grading 50% pure Silver! With expanding production came increased demand for workers which caused immigration rates to increase throughout the late 1800s reaching levels unprecedented anywhere else in North America at that point! The resulting boom also created social tension as wealthier individuals bought up properties adjacent to rich neighborhoods while working class families lost access to affordable housing and jobs due simply to automation through industrialization! This growth however eventually reversed as technological advances made mining increasingly difficult while new investment dried up leaving many Victorians struggling financially within only a few decades! By 1890 alluvial gold had been found along what would become downtown Boulder including what is now Main Street which led directly to creation of what would be known as "The City" because so much development occurred here without formal annexation or consenting from those living nearby! Coalmining operations continued until 1975 but little remains remaining today except for a few small hills around downtown which are popular tourist destinations thanks to its historical significance! A petition drive led by civic organizer Patrick Kennedy resulted in Denver annexing Boulder on February 22nd 1912 despite strong opposition from Mayor John Evans who claimed annexation would violate Treaty 6 discussed betweenDenver & Russia regarding control over Larimer River valley
