The increased traffic caused businesses to close their doors, leading to a decline in business activity which contributed to the city's financial struggles over the years. However, Mayor Michael Hancock has been working hard to reverse this trend by investing in new businesses and attracting new residents who are excited about what he plans for future growth in Aurora. Aurora also contains two museums: one focused on local history and culture and another dedicated to art galleries from around Colorado Springs. There are also several restaurants available within walking distance of each other as well as family amusement parks like Six Flags Over Aurora or Ascot Park which bring families together during summertime fun activities such as camping or playing games outdoors while enjoying various amenities inside the theme park like water rides, airboats and Ferris wheels!
