In October 1954, when Yuba County was established and included parts of Butte and Nevada counties, it chose to become its own local government rather than submit to Sacramento County's attempts at consolidation; this led to much conflict between the two governments over control over municipal services and land issues (including a contentious referendum on whether or not to annex portions of Nevada County). On February 12, 2014*, voters passed an ordinance changing all limits on franchise extensions within each city/county into open voting districts* (*This change followed years of lobbying by members of both chambers who believed cities should have more say over how they were policed - see below). This marked the first time since 1911 that any American city had completely abolished its police force (the last being New Orleans). As part as one step towards increasing public transparency about municipal government operations†(*), this ordinance also requires all new individual incorporation applications filed with either city or county authorities to include an explanation listing all “municipal functions” performed by newly incorporated entities as well as any meetings or hearings attended by such entities administrators (i.e., boards or committees appointed by those organizations) during their initial organizational phases†(*). The population growth seen throughout much of recent history has been largely due to immigrants - many from Latin America - settling in Yuba City beginning in earnest following World War II and continuing through today's waves of Asians and Latinos moving northward throughout Southern California; however, sizable amounts continue to reside here native-born Californians too. In 2000 Census figures*, 48%of residents identifying themselves as white only made up 26%of total housing unit count while 21%identified themselves as Hispanic/Latino only; non-Hispanic whites outnumbered Hispanics/Latinos 20-to-1* (*See table below for full data set*) . Since 2000 there has been significant compression across neighborhoods due to development pressures exerted by large businesses & developers seeking expansive lots along major transportation corridors & access points nearby†(*). These forces have done little shortchange adjacent smaller neighborhoods which often find themselves struggling with scarce affordable parking spaces & limited access roads that make getting around difficult‡*. Despite these challenges some residents are fighting back against developer encroachment even going so far as erecting fence posts around upcoming developments.*

In 1864, these Native Americans set up camp near what is now downtown Yuba City after fleeing from hostilities between their tribe and other Native American groups. The Miwok Tribe constructed a roundabout nearby which served as an entrance into the city for about 10 years until it was destroyed by fire. In 1907, when Yuba City became a town, residents voted to name their new community after local pioneer James Hahnenberger. Hahnenberger had been instrumental in helping develop central valley land into what is today known as Silicon Valley. Hahnenberger also donated $1,000 towards establishing public schools within town limits. The population of Yuba City continued to grow throughout World War II; during this time,YYubuCity experienced high levels of bombing activity due to its proximity to Japanese-controlled areas in Southern Alameda County. As a result, many businesses were bombed out or damaged during World War II including Laundry Barn BBQ (later known as Pizza Hut), Golden Corral restaurant (now Taco Bell), Chamberlin's grocery store (now Safeway), Wahlgren's hardware store (now Home Depot), Post office building #5 (now Donatelli’s Pizza & Pasta) and more than 20 other businesses that lost their business owners because of war-time destruction caused by airstrikes or incendiary bombsights – all within 1 mile of downtown! YudaCity also played an important role during the Vietnam War; during this time period,YYubuCity served as headquarters for Operation Ranch Hand which aimed to assist Vietnamese refugees who were fleeing South Vietnam due to military coups and political instability there. Additionally,YYubuCity hosted numerous protests against U2′s Joshua Tree Tour on behalf of local farmers who objected to both U2’s commercialism and its support for North Vietnam’s Socialist government – all while standing alongside fellow Californians at major landmarks like Eiger Hill Park! Eventually following decades of growth and change within our city Limits - culminating with Mayor Steve Lowenthal taking office in 2014 - development began adjacent to downtown that would impact not just our formerly agricultural surroundings but also much needed transportation access such as Interstate 5 directly acrosstown from our doorstep while still preserving much rural character remaining millennia ago unchanged! This exciting trend continues unabated with Mayor Lowenthal spearheading efforts akin “Get Local” that seek input from citizens neighboring Downtown regarding future plans impacting even more people living closeby each day yet unsigned! Ultimately resulting in investment totaling more than $140M dollars being brought projects forward thereby creating some unheard-of jobs right smack dab IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR CITY CENTER!!!!!
