Ladd began developing this land into an agricultural community with five schools and 100 employees who raised corn, hay, cottonseed oil and other crops; manufactured goods such as bicycles and radios; processed cheese; made bricks; built a water tower;and constructed several roads including Main Street which later became State Route 1A

Yuba City, California is a city in the Central Valley of California, United States. The population was 15,871 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest municipality in California and ranks as one of the fastest-growing cities in America. The Yuba River drains much of Yuba City and its environs, making it a fertile agricultural area that has been used for agriculture since before man arrived on Earth. The first European to visit Yuba City was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo on October 24th, 1542. From this time until 1852 no contact with Europeans was made by any form of land or air travel. A mission was built near present day downtown Yuba City in 1852 and named Franciscan Mission San Francisco de Asís after General José Manuel Monterey who had led an attack against Mexica forces at Cerro Gordo (now Chino Hills). In 1868 Sacramento County was created from parts of Kern County and In 1896 part of Butte County became part of Yuba County when it was split off from Kern County. In 1911 Polytechnic High School opened as the first high school in town which graduated its first class that year. In 1916 construction began on what would become Wofford College Preparatory School which still exists today as Wofford University - one of only two private universities in California that offers college level courses online for students who do not have enough money to attend traditional institutions. On November 12th 1950 voters passed Proposition 16 which established statehood for both Fresno and Bakersfield counties creating what is now known as the Central Valley region within California which includes alluvial valleys, rural areas surrounding metropolitan areas, portions of desert regions including Mono Lake and Yosemite National Park; plus most recently Stanislaus Counties eastward to Redding while Yucca Valley falls within Nevada Territory
Yuba City was founded in 1879 by James W. Yuba and his wife, Ann. It became an incorporated city in 1903. The first post office in the city was established in 1881. In 1906, the city's first school opened and it continues to serve as its primary educational institution to this day.
