The City Council moved from its original location on Third Street to a new building on First Street in 1928. In 1978, Brewing Company Brewery founded by Bob Geyer opened an adjacent factory park called Geyer Park next to Highway 101 near Lake Hodges Boulevard. With more than twenty breweries now operating throughout Southern California (plus additional operations around the world), Yorba Linda has become known for its brewing industry; it also continues to be home to many high-tech companies as well as numerous small businesses that support them with their products and services. Since 1964, when BART opened up transportation options into downtown Oakland via Interstate 5 south of town (and before that there were local buses only), much progress has been made within what had once been a very rural area - just east of I-5 along US 101 - in making things easier for people who wanted easy access both north and southward into downtown Oakland without having too much trouble getting through all those hills! However little attention hath been given until recently to developing east side streets leading into downtown which would have made it possible for people coming out of I-5 onto Broadway or Nevada Avenue (just east of BART) instead of continuing down 3rd street past mostly farmland until you reach Jones Road at Manzanita Beach State Park! In this way development could have occurred primarily on parcels between Broadway/Alameda Streets/Plymouth Drive north and south thereof rather than right smack dab in front off I-5

Yorba Linda is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 796 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern shore of Lake Merritt and is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. The city was founded on July 26, 1853 by James Irvine, who named it after Mount Diablo in Northern California. The first European to visit Yorba Linda was José Manuel Balboa in 1777. He noted that there were many Coast Miwok Indians living near Palo Alto and called them the "Yorbas". In 1827, Captain David Elliott discovered oil wells at Point Conception and named this place Oilfield Hill because of the oil industry developing here. In 1857, John Leland purchased land north of town from Nicholas Biddle for $10 per acre (0.50 ha). This area became known as Northshore Rancho Nobre which later included Yorba Linda. A post office was established in 1830 at Point Conception with Gaspare Levi as its first postmaster. Leland's heirs sold most of his holdings to John Dutton in 1854 for $1 million (US$100 million today). Dutton built numerous residences and businesses within what is now downtown Yorba Linda before dying in 1861 due to tuberculosis contracted while working on his railroad empire outside Los Angeles. In 1865, George Hearst bought much of Dutton's property including Northshore Rancho Nobre from Hearst's widow Elizabeth Randolph Hearst for $2 million (US$40 million today). Hearst renamed it Santa Paula Valley after his daughter Santa Paula County which he had settled east of Ventura County into during the Gold Rush era when he used much of Southern California's goldfields as well as parts of Orange County and Riverside Counties to build his theme park Disneyland Anaheim Park across from Anaheim City Hall). Downtown Yorba Linda grew slowly until 1887 when two brothers - William Goodspeed and Arthur Haggerty - opened their grocery store/cafeteria on Main Street which soon spawned other small businesses around it like carpenters' shops, jewelers', fabricators', printers', physicians' offices etc., needing no streetlights or sidewalks since they had indoor parking lots with water taps available 24 hours a day! By 1920 several dozen stores operated out-of-town; some still do so today! In 1932 Mayor Harry Wolk began construction on an air raid shelter funded by Hollywood movie producer Hal Roach that served as both City Hall (later renamed Wolk Tower) and Municipal Stadium until 1945 when it burned down due to overuse by local firemen! The current building housing City Hall Annex opened in 1966 adjacent to City Hall tower having been designed by architect Don Lane primarily for use as an auxiliary library services center!! The annex also contains three tall white columns facing Main Street bearing the name "Yorba Linda Civic Center" honoring those civic organizations supportive of Mayor Wolk during his mayoralty including the Chamber Music Society founded 1922 by composer Virgil Thomson; Mothers Against Drunk Driving League 1923 formed by Mrs Jane Addams; American Legion Post #81950 1942 Unit #914 1940 WWII veteran Wendell Berryman serving concurrently as President Elect; Red Cross Blood Services 1948 Girls Scout Camp 1953-1964 operated jointly with neighboring Simi Valley Aerial photo looking eastward taken November 9th 1944 shows early development around present day downtown Yorba Linda CA It should be noted that while YL may have started off small Scale compared to some contemporaries such as SF or LA we have managed maintain our Rateable Population through all these changes hand holding our economy & population growth thruOUT OUR CITY So lets take a look back at some key dates/events that shaped downtown where we currently reside
Yorba Linda was founded in 1853 by George W. Yount and his wife, Lucy. The town's name is derived from the Indian word yorba, meaning " junction of two rivers." In 1883, a post office was established in Yorba Linda and remains in operation to this day. In 1915, the Yorba Linda Municipal Utility District was created and began providing utilities such as water, sewerage, and street lights. In 1957, the city annexed portions of unincorporated Norwalk County. In 1961, the city developed a new downtown area that includes a library and several businesses. On October 1st of each year since 1984, Yorba Linda celebrates its birthday with an event called "Birthday Bash." This free celebration features local foods and entertainment including vendors selling gifts for children under the age of 10.
