Yorba Linda, California is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 63,203 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Orange County and one of the five cities (along with Anaheim, Irvine, Santa Ana, and Riverside) that make up the Greater Los Angeles Area. The name Yorba Linda comes from two sources: one originates from Spanish missionaries who named it La Jolla del Rey after Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico City; and another comes from an Adobe mission which stood on the present-day site of downtown Yorba Linda for more than 150 years. A post office called Yorba Linda was established in 1887. The first resident was William Eaton. On July 10th 1870 Captain David Price founded Rancho San Rafael de la Brea near what is now downtown Yorba Linda; Price's family operated Rancho Santa Fe de los Padres until 1892 when they sold it to Jameson Butterfield who renamed it "Butterfield Station." In 1896 Olmsted Brothers purchased Rancho San Rafael de la Brea from Butterfield and changed its name to "Downtown Yorba Linda". After World War II many farmers abandoned their land along Coast Ranges due to a lack of available water resources or because they were unable to compete with new grazing practices by cattle ranchers in Southern California. This led to diminished agricultural production and a decline in population among older residents within Downtown Yorba Linda until about 1970 when redevelopment efforts began there as well as throughout Orange County resulting in an increase in both populations and jobs within Downtown Yorba Linda during this period of growth. "Downtown" development proceeded slowly because developers lacked money for such large projects at first because real estate prices were high relative to other areas of town; however over time prices have decreased making Downtown viable for residential use as well as commercial uses which has lead to increased employment opportunities for people living Downtown as well." The current day skyline of Downtown Yorbajo Linda can be traced back to 1917 when there was only a small strip mall adjacent to center square which later grew into what is today’s Square One Shopping Center complete with streetscape improvements added between 1990-1996 by then Mayor Darrell Steinberg following his re-election victory over then supervisor Donny Ferguson Sr.. On October 14th 1997 – just days after Mayor Steinberg’s death - City Council voted 6-1 not including 3 abstentions (two members being newly elected) approving demolition of old buildings on First Street eastward between Sutter Avenue and Spring Street so that modern community amenities could be developed behind them instead - the action effectively signaled completion of much awaited revitalization project spearheaded by then Planning Director Donny Ferguson Jr.. That same year developer Edward Holliday completed construction on what would become known as Holliday Plaza - anchored by Macy’s department store -centered around four blocks north/northwest of Square One Shopping Center providing quality retail space unavailable until recently elsewhere in town. Today Central Park straddles Second Street & Highland Avenue just northeast cornering Holliday Plaza while multiple restaurants occupy former bank building located on Third Street eastside between Sutter Avenue & Spring street once home to Sears before being redeveloped into apartments starting around 2006 by current Mayor Darrell Steinberg who also owns Holliday Plaza... currently under construction are Holliday Place Hotel/ condominium complex across First St., southeast corner Of Spring Ave., formerly home To Ponce Mexican restaurant... finally located south/southwest corner Of Third St., east side Of Sutter Ave., across From Holiday Inn Express
Swivels were first invented in 1851 by a man named George Stephenson. They quickly became popular as they allowed firearms to be turned around easily, allowing them to be fired from both the front and the back of a gun. In 1865, American inventor John Brownell patented his own version of the swivel that allowed firearms to be fired from any angle. The invention of the gun swivel would later play a significant role in increasing accuracy and efficiency when firing firearms.

Yorba Linda is a town in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 41,569 at the 2010 census. It is located on the border of Yorba Linda and Dana Point Counties. The townsite was named for General John C. Calhoun, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as President of the United States from 1848 to 1851. The first hotel in town was built on Twenty-fourth Street in 1876 by contractor W. H. Doddridge and his wife Henrietta (née Richardson). In 1886, Calhoun's widow donated land to make way for a public school which opened in 1889 under the name "Yorba Linda High School". At that time it was the only high school in Orange County. In 1915, Yorba Linda Boulevard became part of State Route 82 when it was added to the state highway system following passage of legislation authorizing local government reorganization within Southern California under a new system of county government known as "territorial counties". The road remained part of SR 82 until 2009 when it was renumbered SR 822 and split off from SR 82 east to form its own routechoes through Downtown Yorba Linda while sharing an interchange with I-405 nears its eastern terminus with SR 822 nears its western terminus. In 1909, two brothers founded what would become one of America's leading amusement park chains—Eagle Land & Water Company—in what is now Disneyland Park ( Sorcerer's Tower ). Their first park, EPCOT Center , opened at Walt Disney World Resort , Florida on May 1, 1982 . Other parks followed over time including opening day — June 14th at Disneyland Park (Frozenland) —of Magic Kingdom Park (MGM), Tokyo DisneySea , Animal Kingdom Lodge (), Epcot / Hollywood Studios () and numerous other theme parks around the world . On October 15th 1965, Yorba Linda residents approved Measure P which provided funding for watermain replacement projects throughout Orange County . These projects were completed during 1966–1968 without incident; however during 1969–1970 there were several minor accidents involving faulty pipe connections that resulted in costly damage to homes/businesses along portions of both roads affected byMeasure P On November 3rd 1970 voters passed Measure R which increased property taxes by 0.75% effective December 1st 1970 ; this increase raised approximately $2 million per year resulting in large cost overruns associated with variousstreet paving and street widening projects funded entirely through Measure P –most notably Riverbend Rd., Main St., Pacific Ave., Highland Dr., LeConte Blvd.–all componentsstill remain operational today even though tolls have been abolished
The city of Yorba Linda was founded on December 12, 1887, by Charles W. Yorba and his brothers. The first post office in the city was established on January 1, 1888. The name was chosen in honor of General George Custer, who had died in battle two years earlier. Yorba Linda grew rapidly during the early years of its existence, but suffered from a number of financial setbacks. In 1901, the City fathers voted to adopt a new form of government which led to their subsequent success in hosting an incorporation referendum which resulted in their incorporation as a city. In 1912, Yorba Linda annexed part of San Rafael and reincorporated as a city with the same name. In 1915, another annexation occurred when Yorba Linda purchased land east of Highway 101 from Jack London's Rancho Santa Anita for $1 million dollars. This addition made Yorba Linda one of the most populous cities in California at that time. During World War II, many businesses relocated to downtown because they were requisitioned by the military for use within the war effort. After the war ended there were significant efforts to return downtown business back to normalcy but it never fully recovered and eventually fell victim to gentrification throughout much of the 1990s and 2000s; however some redevelopment is ongoing today on parts of downtown including The Park Place development project
