Yorba Linda, California is located in the southern end of San Diego County. The city was founded on April 17, 1903 by George C. Yarborough and his wife Mary L. Yarborough. It became an incorporated city on November 5, 1912. The current mayor is Joan Frampton and the City Council consists of 7 members with 3 seats being up for election every two years. Yorba Linda has a population of over 210,000 people and is the largest city in San Diego County by area at 323 square miles (816 km2). The origins of Yorba Linda can be traced back to when George C. Yarborough and his wife Mary L. Yarborough traveled down from Santa Barbara to visit their friends there before traveling on to Mission Valley to explore what lay ahead on their journey westward. They named their new settlement after Mount Diablo which they had seen while exploring the area – Yorba Linda meaning "High Mountain". In 1897, a post office was established at Yorba Linda with mail delivered by horseback between Mission Valley and Madera until 1914 when a streetcar service began providing transportation within the city limits instead . In 1916, Mrs. Yarborough donated land south of her home for a public school system that would eventually include both elementary schools as well as high schools which were opened in 1923-1925 . Today, there are three elementary schools (Lincoln Elementary School, Monterey Park Elementary School and La Jolla Unified School District) as well as one middle school (Yorba Linda Middle School), two high schools (San Diego Mesa College Preparatory Academy and Harborview High School), three parks (Mount Diablo Park/Mt Diablo Recreation Area; Lakewood Golf Course/Lakewood Marina; North Park); eight businesses including five restaurants plus one liquor store; twelve churches including six Baptist Churches; six libraries totaling 381 volumes; seven golf courses including four pro-am rounds each week at two different locations; two waterfalls - One located off Ofchambers Road near Interstate 10 Exit 164A known as waterfall Canyon Creek Falls while another located off Chaparral Lane just east of I-10 exit 169 known as waterfall creek falls park ; four amusement facilities consisting of three theme parks - Fairplex Raceway where NASCAR races are held annually during Memorial Day weekend complete with live music all weekend long carnival games concessions stands midway attraction featuring food Court arcade game shows carnival midway activities such as carny rides small parade Saturday afternoons throughout summer indoor games areas day care center nursery school buildings housing development called Lakeshore Village it also includes an equestrian center open year round with corrals miniature golf areas water slides Olympic Games: 1976 – 1984 Two Olympic Games: 1984 – 1992 Three Paralympic Games: 1988 – 1996 Philadelphia 76ers NBA basketball team: 1967–1978

Yorba Linda is a small city in Northern California, located on the Tyrrell Peninsula. It is bordered by Orange County to the south and east, San Bernardino County to the north, and Ventura County to the west. The population was 20,391 at the 2010 census. Yorba Linda's namesake comes from two Spanish words meaning "old oak" - yorba for "oak" and Linda for "town". The first Europeans to visit Yorba Linda were members of an expedition led by Captain John Cabot in 1492. He named it La Jolla because he saw a hillock with an old oaks at its summit. In 1769, Mission San Gabriel Arcangelis was founded here by Father Junípero Serra. The mission became known as Santa Barbara de Arequipa after General José Joaquín de Urbina took possession of it in 1836. In 1881, incorporation began proceedings for what would become Yorba Linda Cal Polytechnic Institute (later Pomona College). On December 7, 1882, a vote passed on plans to site the college on land donated by businessman Elisha Hunt Sutter. Construction began soon afterwards and classes started in September of that year. The campus expanded rapidly with new buildings being erected until 1906 when it reached its present size of 110 acres (39 hectares). During World War II many local businesses made donations or contributed personnel to various government-sponsored programs such as munitions production or Aircraft Assembly Plant No 2 (AAP2), which produced Boeing aircraft during World War II American soldiers barracks were built adjacent to campus during 1945-1947 as part of Project Ramon also known as Camp Pendleton housing 2 million American troops during World War II Yorba Linda residents served on various committees throughout this time including those responsible for planning and developing downtown; development control; fire protection; Streetcar operations; public works projects such as watermain replacement and sewer line construction In 1957–1958 developments commenced along State Route 1010 called North Campus Extension which increased student enrollment from 1,500 students per semester to over 10,000 per semester resulting in Needham Hall becoming one of America’s first purpose-built all female dormitories while Centennial Hall became home to America’s first golf course/golf school
Yorba Linda was founded in 1887 as a small trading post on the banks of the San Francisco Bay.
