Yorba Linda, California is a small city in the county of Orange in Southern California. It has a population of just over 40,000 people and it is one of the most ethnically diverse communities in the United States. The town was founded on December 12th, 1887 by James Irvine and his family. Yorba Linda had been developed as an agricultural community on the west side of Lake Oroville. In 1923, it became part of San Bernardino County. The city was officially incorporated on November 3rd, 1926. In 1968, Yorba Linda became an enclave within Los Angeles County after then-Mayor George Moscone refused to recognize its annexation into the larger city. The City Council voted 5-2 to become an independent municipality with its own elected government and Mayor Donald Seawright followed suit two years later. As part of Los Angeles County's efforts to consolidate leadership among counties, Yorba Linda was placed under local control effective January 1st, 1974 when all but two members of the City Council were transferred from San Bernardino to Los Angeles County without fanfare or protest by residents or business leaders who saw this as aSnub for their hometown. On October 15th, 1984 three bombs exploded at local gas stations near downtown; these bombings killed four people and injured twenty-one others including several prominent citizens such as Mayor Seawright and State Assemblyman Don Perata As part of anti-terrorism measures mandated by September 11th terrorist attacks Americans began increasingly distrusting their government which had failed them time and again during that decade throughout Central America era - specifically in Northern California where US economic interests thrived despite American aggression against our friends there City officials quickly responded with ordinances mandating personal @ least 8' height limit for restaurants/bars customers; increased patrols around streets; banning smoking inside businesses/residential areas; imposing fines up to $5K for violators This response sparked outrage among many who felt that this draconian measure was motivated more by bigotry against Muslims than public safety concerns while also highlighting how outgunned some Angelenos have become at home following decades of military occupation . With no major terror incidents reported since then until now (an attack occurred in 2002), some feel that this ban may have actually done more harm than good . Despite protests from many residents who see it as yet another example of discriminatory gentrification policies targeting Muslim neighborhoods across LA County--a trend which has continued unabated even after 9/11--the city rewrote its zoning regulations making them less permissive towards dispensaries and other marijuana dispensaries soon after becoming mayor [1].
