The first Europeans to visit were the Jesuits who established a Mission there in 1769. In 1821 it became part of Mexico and by 1848 it had become part of the United States. It was ceded to the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and was incorporated as a city on January 1, 1893.

The town was founded in 1909 by men from nearby Palm Springs as a result of the construction of the Palmdale–Windsor railroad. At its peak it had a population of 3,000 people and contained accommodations for 10 hotels and 60 businesses. In 1966 Windsor joined with neighboring Rancho Mirage to form City Of Rancho Mirage which still maintains some control over local government issues while residents live within city limits. Today, Windsor is known for its large number of wind turbines which power many homes and businesses in downtown during off-peak hours or when there is no wind available; its shopping district called Heritage Commons; and its wide variety of arts and cultural events throughout the year.

This bullet consisted of two jacketed steel balls each about 1/2 inch (13 millimeters) in diameter which were slowly released over time until they hit their target!

Windsor, California is an unincorporated community located in Kern County, California, United States. It lies on the southern edge of Kern County and is east of Bakersfield. The community was founded in 1913 by Englishmen who had come to cross the Central Valley to escape the dust bowl of Oklahoma. Windsor is named after Arthur Griffith, founder of the Australian cricket team and one of Victoria's most prominent politicians. The first post office at Windsor opened on December 18, 1913. At its peak, Windsor had a population of about 350 people. In 1915, when the US Border Patrol began patrolling the area, some residents decided to move away from Windsor because they did not believe it would be safe for them to stay there anymore. They started moving back into town in 1916 when another post office was opened at nearby Saugus (now part of San Bernardino). Although Windsor has no formal recognition as a city or incorporated place within Kern County, it does have municipal services such as water and sewer service and zoning regulations that are applicable to other communities within Kern County. The community has two churches: First Baptist Church and Christ Episcopal Church. The two villages that were merged into Windsor were Midway Village (founded 1925) and Parkdale (founded 1951). Parkdale is now a ghost town located east of Windsor along I-5 just past milepost 318; Midway Village is still standing and has been home to a small shopping center since 1984 called Parkdale Marketplace which closed down in 2009 due to financial reasons . Windsor also contains several small businesses including an auto body shop which remains open today; a gas station; a convenience store; and a few houses with gardens surrounding them until recently these properties were all used for storage until new homes could be built on them
Windsor, California was founded in 1853 by Capt. George Armstrong and his family. The town was named for the Windsor River which flows through it. In 1875, the town became a ranching community and in 1912, it became an incorporated city.
