Wildomar is a small town located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 18,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the city of West Hollywood. Wildomar was founded in 1899 by John Wilder and his brother-in-law, George Hays. The brothers built a small post office near their home on Topanga Canyon Road and named it after themselves. In 1903, they opened a general store and Post Office that still stands today on Main Street in Wildomar. The first school in Wildomar was built on what is now Paseo de la Fama Boulevard in 1912. A new school was built in 1928 on land donated by Mrs. Florence Schieffer and Mr. Harry Wolkoff with help from Mr. Wilder and other civic leaders of the day. In 1954, when Wildomar became an unincorporated community, it had a population of only 10 people; however, with the opening of Interstate 5 just south of town (now State Route 24), growth began to occur rapidly within both incorporated and unincorporated areas adjacent to or bordering on Wildomar proper including Encino to the west, Toluca Lake to the north-northeast, Van Nuys to the east-northeast and Brentwood Village to the south-southwest across Topanga Canyon Road from Wildomar itself until 1995 when all but Encino were annexed into West Hollywood as part of its larger community pretention/ annexation plan which also saw BrentwoodVillage annexed into West Hollywood through then Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's executive order creating "West Hollywood City" which included all populated area east of Ventura Boulevard between Lankershim Boulevard (formerly Soquel Avenue) and Western Avenue (formerly Mulberry Drive). As development pressures increased throughout much of Southern California during this time period especially following enactment of Proposition 65 as well as numerous large projects such as CenturyLink Field developments outside town limits - primarily northwest Sector 7th Street & Lankershim Boulevard - that had negative environmental impacts upon wildland communities like Wildomar we experienced rapid decline over several decades culminating with our current demographic situation where fewer than 10%(out OF THE total population) lives within 501 feet (<1 mile)line fronting I-5 conducting business as usual despite being surrounded by high volume commercial development with little regard for natural resources due primarily TO 20 years OF NON STOP LAND grabs/purchase/occupation resulting in loss Of More than half our cropland relative To preindustrial times while average house size has MORE than doubled AND vehicle ownership HAS RANGED UP MORE THEN TWICE DECREASED since 1990 SEE PHOTO below – less than 1 MILE FROM HIGH Volume Commercial Development!” WildOMAR achieved full city status on Jan 15th 1995 when Caltrans acquired all remaining portions adjoining West Hollywood City lines forming "West Hollywood City". With this incorporation came an increase injobs opportunities for local residents along WITH investment dollars brought about by these newly created government entities which continue to provide support today including funding for infrastructure such as streetlights/ drainage systems etc.. Today there are more jobs here then ever before thanks largely TO increased traffic volumes ON THE INTERSTATE 5 corridor due predominantly TO continued residential growth along WITH accompanying investments from developers who see this corridor not just as an opportunity BUT A NEED!

Wildomar is a small town located in the Mojave Desert of California. The first settlement in what is now Wildomar was made in 1873, when Job Severson and his family settled on Rancho del Norte. In 1907, Wildomar's namesake, wildOMAR fruit marketed by the Pacific Fruit Growers Cooperative, was established in nearby Parlier. Beginning as a small community of about 100 people at its peak in the 1920s and 1930s, Wildomar has since shrunk to just over 20 residents. However, it still holds some of its historic landmarks - such as the local high school which was built in 1922 and remains active today. Additionally, Wildomar has developed into a popular tourist destination with properties like the rancho plaza and winery offering unique experiences for visitors.
On July 4, 1849, the United States acquired Rancho San Francisco de la Alhambra from Spain for $1,000. The land was rich in sisal trees and other resources that would be used to create a new country. On October 16 of that year, President Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered the military to retake the rancho from the Californios. A force led by Captain John C. Fremont easily took over and burned down the buildings on November 10. The most important event of this time period occurred on February 14, 1850 when Mexico ceded California to the United States for $40 million in gold and silver coins. This event made California an American state and opened up many opportunities for settlers and entrepreneurs who desired to purchase or control these valuable resources.
