The post office was renamed Dixon in 1903 after General William Tecumseh Sherman's division attacked and destroyed Mexican Fort Davis in Dixon County on October 25 of that year. Some of the first guns ever made in America were built at Dixon Arsenal near Wildomar. The first gun that was made there was called an Old Model Sharps rifle, but it wasn't really very effective because it only shot rounds that weighed about 5/8 ounces each. It didn't take long before people started making their own guns using different types of ammunition that they found around them. Eventually, most all handgun ammunition came from outside of America. Wildomar quickly became known as the center for handguns production in California because so many companies set up shop there specifically manufacturing pistols and revolvers for American customers. By 1907, Wildomar had become home to one of the largest arsenals east of the Mississippi River - more than doubling what it had been five years earlier! Production continued to grow until World War II when all production ceased due to wartime shortages; however, some leftover weapons still remain today at various local antique stores across California!

In 1902-1903 two floods destroyed most of the buildings in town and killed 60% of its population including all but one of its menfolk; many who had married into local families also lost everything they owned or had mortgaged their homes to get food for themselves and their families during those difficult times For years afterward many members did not return home because they could not afford to rebuild or sell what remained of their homes In 1916 gasoline rationing was instituted which caused even more destruction as many stores closed down due to lack of inventory Despite this inconvenience much progress has been made since then with restoration projects taking place throughout the years such as a new police station completed in 2006 and a new library opening in 2009 .

In 1948, when Sonoma County became stateless due to the decision of United States President Harry S Truman not to recognizeada state of Sonoma County during World War II, Wildomar became part of Marin County; however, it retained its locally elected mayor until 1978 when that function was transferred to Marin Superior Court Judge Michael Lacey III. The economy of Wildomar has been based largely on agriculture for most of its history; however, recent years have seen an increase in service industry businesses such as restaurants and retailers along with some light manufacturing activity; however most economic activity now occurs within rural areas outside of town limits
Wildomar is a small town located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The name comes from the Spanish word "wildoma" meaning "a thicket of brush." The first European to visit Wildomar was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, who landed on the coast of Northern California in 1542. In 1872, when American settlers arrived, they named the town after John W. Wilder, an early settler and postmaster in Forks Township. The first school in Wildomar was established in 1875. At that time there were only a few hundred people living in Wildomar and most of them worked on farms or huddled around their homes during wintertime. A new school building was built in 1902 and it still serves as the primary educational institution for the town today. In 1916, Wildomar saw its first movie production when Pathé Pictures produced "The Returned". That same year also saw the opening of what is now known as the Wildomar Shopping Center which housed a variety of local businesses including a grocery store, bakery, drugstore and hotel until it burned down in 1951. In 1947-48, work began on what would become known as Interstate 10 (I-10) through downtown Wildomar and many homes along First Street were destroyed during construction. However, due to public outcry and some donations from individuals and organizations such as The American Legion Auxiliary Office, much of I-10's damage was repaired within six months! In 1959-60, another I-10 project called "The main Street Improvement Project" resulted in many storefronts being replaced with modern buildings which can be seen today throughout downtownWildomar.
