Wildomar, California is a small town located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Victorville, CA Micropolitan Statistical Area. Wildomar is known for its wine production and wineries such as Sutter's Ridge, Red Tail Wines, and their own Barefoot Vineyards. The first Europeans to visit what is now Wildomar were members of the Spanish expedition led by Gaspar de Portolà in 1769. They named it "Las Palomas" or "Palo Blanco". The name was changed to "Wildomar" after General Jose Maria Alvarado discovered wild grapes in 1824 while exploring northern California. In 1867, an ad in a local paper announced that two Californian brothers had invented a new kind of grapevine called the Barefoot Vineyard grape variety which would be grown only on their property near Death Valley National Park. As word spread about this unique vineyard, other farmers began to experiment with growing Barefoot vines around Los Angeles and Orange County. In 1875, president Ulysses S Grant awarded Wildomar Ranch to John Jacob Astor IV for his contribution to American industry during the Gilded Age period. During World War II, much of what is now Wildomar was used as an airfield by the United States military because it was located so close to Edwards Air Force Base in neighbouring Riverside County. Today much of this land remains vacant and undeveloped however parts have been redeveloped into housing developments including: Wildomar Village (which includes a shopping mall), Northgate (a commercial area adjacent to Interstate 5), and Southgate (an industrial park adjacent to Interstate 15). In recent years many efforts have been made to preserve aspects of wildOMAR culture such as its wine production and historical archives; these include: commemorative plaque dedicated at Northgate Mall; public education campaigns highlighting important aspects of wildOMAR history; preservation easements granted from various property owners within Wildomar boundaries; restoration work on several homes within Northgate Village; AND the purchase by local residents of several thousand acres surrounding Northgate Village which has since become an open-air botanical garden complete with hiking trails and a pond where visitors can walk among thousands of plants from around world

These regulations included requirements that guns be unloaded and stored in a locked room when not in use, that sales must be done through licensed dealers, and that stocks must be regularly inspected to ensure they remain accurate and consistent with changes in production technology. On July 14th 1934, London's Croydon Corporation shot an unsupported target out into their open air range using .22 caliber pistols chambered for this small caliber Bullet known as "Broomhandle". This marks Britain's first ever recorded shooting match taking place without prior notice or registration with any other governing body
Wildomar is located in the Mojave Desert of California, about 120 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles. The area has been inhabited by the Mono people for over 10,000 years. In 1842, a party led by Capt. John C. Frémont explored and mapped the region, which he named after Lt. Gov. Manuel Nieto of Baja California (now Mexico). [1] In 1863, gold was discovered at Wildomar and soon became a fashionable mining town with its own newspaper and other businesses. By 1869, however, wildcat mining had become so successful that most of the town's miners abandoned it to go back to their homes in Baja California or Nevada. The last wildcats were mined out in 1892-1893. [2] But Wildomar never lost its importance; it continued to serve as an important center for law enforcement and trade until after World War II when large numbers of American soldiers stationed in Southern California moved into the area during that war to take advantage of its well-developed farming infrastructure and soil resources. Afterward, Wildomar slowly reverted back to its agricultural roots until becoming an unincorporated community again in 1978 when it merged with neighboring Placerville
Wildomar was founded in 1849 by Jerome Wilder and his brother-in-law, Amos Kendall. The town was named for the wildflowers that grew along the banks of the Santa Clara River. In 1854, Wildomar became part of Sacramento County. In 1865, it became a city. The population reached 10,000 by 1880. By 1890, it had grown to 25,000 inhabitants. In 1916, Wildomar became an incorporated city and lost its status as a county seat.
