It is a small town that straddles the Sacramento River and is bordered by the towns of Carpinteria to the north and Menlo Park to the east. The region now known as Wildomar was first inhabited by Native Americans who hunted game hereabouts. In 1821, adobe buildings were erected on what is now Old Town Square in what is now Wildomar. A post office was established at Wildomar in 1827, and a store opened its doors in 1829. A school was built on Main Street in 1848 and became part of Carpinteria Unified School District in 1901. A new high school (now Carpinteria Junior/Senior High School) was built on property donated by Mrs John Sutter around 1915. As early as 1870, wildflowers could be seen blooming along some of today's streets near Old Town Square - including Broadway (present day Hwy 101), Geary Boulevard (former Blanco Road), Mission Road (then present day US 101), Napa Avenue (then present day State Route 1) - while other flowers such as roses could only be seen during bloom season. By 1916 there were still many gardens remaining scattered throughout town with plants like pansies, petunias and ferns blooming abundantly during most months! In 1906 an act was passed making it illegal for any person not employed by either government or private enterprise to sell intoxicating liquors without a license from both entities; this law led to prohibitionism becoming unpopular within town limits until 1949 when local club owners began selling beer again after repeal of prohibition laws statewide! In 1913 "The New Californian" newspaper featured an article about how 'the transformation [of Wildomar] has been brought about largely through voluntary contributions from farmers who have grown crops successfully hereabouts.' After World War I returned purposes for agricultural production shifted towards city needs more than ever before; this led to increased demand for goods manufactured outside of town which had become increasingly scarce thanks to Prohibition restrictions! During Prohibition years businesses such as The Fuzzy Top Saloon closed their doors because they couldn't sell liquor without getting a Liquor License; however due to recent state changes this wasn't so much an issue anymore given that all businesses are required by state law having a Restaurant or Pub license if they wish to sell food items instead... Ever since then many restaurants have sprung up throughout town giving locals plenty of choices when dining out! It wasn't until after Repeal did taxes increase significantly within town limits leading businessmen such as Bob White reopened Pintos Mexican restaurant which once served as one of several popular watering holes in Wildomar prior to his closure back in 1984! Today Pintos continues operation serving up delicious Mexican cuisine since 1978 ! Despite being open year-round it experiences low occupancy during busy holiday seasons due mostly to competition from other restaurants nearby!
