In 1907, Whittier became an incorporated city with a population of 10 people; it had no school DISTRICT until 1924 when it joined Pasadena's School District 9th Grade which included North Hollywood and parts of Westwood Village south ofLOS ANGELES Boulevard including Beverly Hills and Century City). On January 1st 1915 the old Main Street Bridge over Antelope Valley Freeway opened after more than three years construction – design by then Mayor Harry S Truman who toured the project during his visit to Southern California (it was alsoopened by Governor Earl Warren who visitedWhittonearlier).
