However, it reopened in 1932 under the name of The Whittier Camera & Television Store. For a few years starting in 1958, the store operated as an annex of The Camera Shop on Olive Avenue. Finally, the store closed in 1979 after being bought by Sears Holdings Corporation.

Whittier is a small town in California, located on the eastern edge of San Joaquin County. The first people to live in what is now Whittier were the Ohlone Native Americans. The area was first settled by Spaniards in 1769, who named it Pueblo de San Antonio de los Angeles. In 1821, the United States government acquired land east of Los Angeles and set about developing it as part of Rancho Santa Anita. In 1872, an act of Congress designated the town site along what is now Fourth Street and Main Avenue between Ninth and Tenth Streets as the county seat of San Joaquin County. In 1876, local citizens voted to name their town Whittier after John Sutter, founder of Sacramento County. The new settlement quickly became a boomtown with lumberyards and businesses catering to miners during the Gold Rush period (1848-1874). However, by 1880 most residents had left for other parts of California due to economic problems brought on by gold fever. But when World War II began in 1939 and demand for military hardware skyrocketed across the US due to war hysteria, many Whittiers returned home to help build up country from scratch. Many locals also enlisted in military service during World War II; some even went overseas where they helped form Naval Units afloat or fought on land against Japan's Imperial Army units ashore or at sea. 2% of all births within California are reported to be white; however this percentage declines rapidly with increasing Latino/Hispanic population levels because these births are not registered with state agencies like Vital Statistics until after they have occurred which can take anywhere from 6 months-yearly depending on how active the family is - something that should be considered while researching your ancestors!
