Hagerty and sold at his store, the Brougham Arms, located on Main Street. The rifle that was bought by George Hillyer sometime between 1861-1863 arrived with a barrel that had been shortened by three inches to make it easier to fire from a horseback. It is not clear when or where this rifle first saw use as it does not appear in any gun records until after the Civil War ended. The city of Westminster grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its location near San Francisco and its access to both water and railroadroads. By 1907, there were over 100 businesses in town including theaters, hotels, restaurants and mills employing over 1,000 people. Many of these businesses started using firearms for protection since they were expensive to maintain without handguns which prohibited them from using public spaces such as schools or parks like other cities did at this time. In 1911, when Mayor John Fenton proposed an ordinance regulating handguns in town limits he met stiff resistance from many business owners who felt that shotguns and rifles should be allowed because they were more effective than handguns at ranges used by hunting enthusiasts or target shooters who used them for self-defense only. Ultimately the ordinance passed but no guns were ever registered until after World War II when regulations changed again which permitted handguns once again in all towns within California excepting downtown Los Angeles where rifles still remain today as part of the city’s arsenal

This move increased traffic on Covina Boulevard and led to decreased crop yields in west Riverside County so much so that local farmers started pushing for a new transportation bypass around Covina Boulevard called "I-10 West" which would have connected west Riverside with east San Bernardino counties using roads such as Lankershim Road and Indian Wells Road rather than going through downtown Los Angeles City Limits 4 miles south of I-5's planned southern terminus at Lankershim Road crossing Interstate 10 about 8 miles north of Pershing Drive (former Lankershim Avenue). To this day there are still some areas withinwest Riverside County that feel like they are being left out while other areas have seen some redevelopment including: The new University Village neighborhood just south of I-10 on Lankershim Road between Pershing Drive and North Capitol Avenue; Arsenal Hills – a community located just outside downtown London near La Jolla multiplexes; Cedar Park – an unincorporated community located along eastern edgeof Corona Estates inside London borders; Eastgate Mall – an open air mall located adjacent to London College Of Technology; Crystal City South -a shopping district consisting primarilyof high end shops near CenturyLink Field stadium) remain rural while more recently developed areas like University Village or Eastgate Mall support suburban lifestyle values similar to those found in larger metropolitan areas across America

Westminster became a city in 1959 after it was annexed by Fresno. The first people to live in what is now Westminster were the Ohlone Native Americans. They built their village near present-day downtown to trade with the Pomo people and other tribes nearby. The area around Westminster had been inhabited for thousands of years before that. In 1847, Mexican settlers arrived in what is now Westminster and began to build homes and ranchos around what would later become downtown. On October 14, 1847, Mexico ceded all of California east of the Sierra Nevada to United States because they believed that such an acquisition would protect their interests as part of negotiations leading up to statehood for California. In 1860, when Fresno became a city, it annexed parts of Bakersfield and Kern counties including Westminster. That same year saw the opening of one of America's largest commercial centers when John Crain founded The Independent Grain Merchants Company at Fourth and Harrison streets in downtown Fresno. At its peak this company handled sales from China (through traders like Hsin Yi) as well as items exported from Southern California via inland shipping routes like the Sierras Railway Company's route from Stockton through Visalia into central California
