In 1978, David Berkowitz killed six people including four women and one child in what is now called "The Sharon Murders." Berkowitz had been convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing several women over a period of several years before seeking revenge against those responsible for his incarceration at Alcatraz Island. On October 14th 1978, he traveled to Westminster where he bought tickets for three passengers – himself included – on an Amtrak train bound for New York City via Los Angeles that night. After taking control of the train as it passed through Union Station in Philadelphia (the scene of another kidnap attempt), Berkowitz killed all six passengers before walking off into thin air just outside Manhattanville Cemetery near Westchester County Line Road in Yonkers Township., New York State

The site for modern day Westminster had been chosen as it contained ample open space for farming and grazing livestock while also having easy access to water resources needed for irrigation during dry times such as those that occurred every few decades during this time period throughout Southern California. In 1924 commercial development began with construction beginning on what would become known as "the Overland Route" which linked Northern California with Southern Arizona through Los Angeles County then down into Baja California Mexico until reaching downtown Los Angeles about two months before Christmas Eve each year during their winter season when shoppers could find items like clothes, groceries and evergreen trees along this route that still exists today just north of Interstate 5 south of I-10

In 1846, Westminster was founded as the small town of Woodstock on the north bank of the Trinity River, about 12 miles east of Sacramento. The following year, it became a city with a population of 3,000. In 1853, it annexed the adjacent towns of Folsom and Auburn. On July 6, 1870, Westminster merged with Rocklin to form a new city with a population of 381,824.
