In 1883, the first firearm clothing store in Westminster, California was opened by W. H. Slaughter. Slaughter offered shotguns, pistols and revolvers for sale to local farmers and hunters. In 1945, Armour & Co., a Wilmington, Delaware-based firearms manufacturer became the first company to open a manufacturing plant in Westminster when it purchased the Wilshire Arms Company from its founder, Isaac W. Armstrong. The plant produced arms including rifles and shotguns until 1971 when Armour & Co.'s main manufacturing line was closed down due to rising costs associated with technological advancements in firearms production. Because of this history and cost overruns with new product development at the time, Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRA) purchased Armour & Co.'s assets in 1978 for $2 million which allowed them to produce all types of rifles and shotguns under one roof for their American customers instead of having each product manufactured separately on two different plants. In 1987 Winchester announced that they were discontinuing all handgun sales within their own company effective January 1st of that year due to the increasing popularity of handguns outside of America where Winchester had strong international brand name recognition This change not only impacted gun manufacturers but also retailers who relied on sales made through national brands like Colt or Glock to support their businesses These layoffs led to an increase in prices on ammunition as well as increased demand from consumers looking for traditional rifle/ shotgun products without being forced into service with modern pistol designs

Westminster is a city in the southern San Bernardino County region of Southern California, United States. The population was 27,814 at the 2010 census. It is bordered by Orange County to the south and east, Riverside County to the north and west, and Page County to the northwest. The first permanent English settler in what is now Westminster was George Washington's surveyor-general for Los Angeles County in 1795. The name "Westminster" was derived from Old English Wernhamstede meaning "west hamlet." The community became a part of Orange County in 1853. In 1907, it merged with Riverside City to form a new municipality which still exists today as an independent city within Orange County. Anglo Mexican pioneers arrived in California during 1847 and began building homes near Wilmington (now known as Westminster) on Laguna Niguel Creek. They named their settlement after Lord Derby's estate near Windsor in England – once they had found out about Derby's holdings thereabouts – because he had been one of their number when he came over on the USS Constitution under Captain Cook in 1846. By 1850, many more Anglo Mexicans had come overland through Death Valley and begun settling around present-day Westminster; these people called themselves los laguneros or “the lagooners” because they were expert fishers and fishermen who used deep water channels between Otay Mesa Peninsula and State Beach along Laguna Niguel Creek for doing this economically rather than relying on surface waterways like those nearer Los Angeles proper where commercial fishing could take place using hook nets that lured big catches of fish up onto shorelineside dockside piles where prices could be negotiated by buyers who then sold these catchsshells back into the sea off Point Lobos lighthouse beforeShipping them home again….. In early 1852, two men from Mexico named Miguel Anaya and José Antonio Ortega set out from Chino Marimba on horseback northeastward along our creek towards Indio but soon ran into trouble coming across American soldiers posted at Almaden rancho Adobe just beyond today's old town limits of Riverside; we'll call them Los Americanos (the Americans). One man managed to make it all the way inside Adobe before getting tied up behind some rocks but his companion wasn't so lucky…. On July 7th Amador shot an elk off Vista Peak into what is now downtown Riverside opposite Mission San Fernando Cathedral; this event helped spur development within present day boundaries of that area including Independence Avenue between Vista Peak Boulevard/Intersection with Doheny Drive/Alameda Street etc., as well as Chestnut Street between Third Street/Mission Hills Road intersection etc.; while Agua Dulce opened its doors later becoming one of Downtown’s most successful commercial districts! East Market Streets ran parallel North-South until they diverged eastward just past Broadway near Highland Avenue current site of Corona Middle School……………… From here until after World War II practically nothing changed except that business Southwest corner 3rd Street & Elmhurst Ave got Lots Of Traffic w Electricity developed Businesses nearby such as Proctor Drug Store started called Victorville Hardware store next door also started power lines running across street which made streets very dusty
Westminster was founded in 1846 as the town of West Sacramento. It became an incorporated city in 1912 and then a state capital after being moved from Sacramento in 1959. The current building, designed by architect Harry Blackman, was completed in 1974.
