West Sacramento is also the home of EastSacramento Regional Airport which serves as both a commercial and military airport. The area now encompassed by West Sacramento was first settled by Native Americans in the early 18th century. The town of Bargain Hill was founded on what is now Bargain Street about 1827. A post office called Bargain Hill was established in 1851, but it never grew very large and disappeared shortly thereafter. Rancho Negra land grantee José Altamira granted a road to residents of west Sac City on December 12, 1873. At that time, east Sac City consisted of only four or five houses on an unincorporated area including present day downtown westsacramento along with several small farms around present day Yuba Boulevard and Webster Road north of I-5 and south of Highway 508. In 1898, Wacoalnae Indian Chief Manuel Nieto donated some land along Yuba Boulevard to establish "Nietzsche Park" adjacent to his ranch house northeast of present day I-5 near Redding Avenue where high school students from east Sac City could play baseball during their free periods while they waited for their parents to come get them after dinner at Nietzsches Ranch House according to plaque on property today (Rancho Nietzsche still stands). On October 15th 1906 Wacoalnae Indian Chief John Llewellyn donated 6 acres (2 ha) southeast corner of First Street & Agricultural Road to build modern day EastSacramento Regional Airport which would serve as both an airfield for commercial airline operations and a military base for the U.S Army during World War II when it moved from San Francisco Bay Area's Candlestick Park%. After World War II ended hostilities were finished at the airport with most activity moving indoors into new hangar facilities until 1978 when Air America Airlines began service providing passenger travel between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Oakland International Airport (OAK), one mile downslope from future Trump Tower across First Street from ESRA which would become known as Terminal 3 after Donald Trump became president in 2016 following his victory over Hillary Clinton in November 2016 In 1978 when Air America Airlines began service providing passenger travel between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Oakland International Airport (OAK), one mile downslope from future Trump Tower across First Street from ESRA which would become known as Terminal 3 after Donald Trump became president in 2016 following his victory over Hillary Clinton in November 2016 , local developer Harry Hagedorn purchased sections of what are now downtown westsacramento blocks bounded by Nugget Way Northeast, Masonic Avenue Northwest, Second Street Southwest & South Monmouth Drive Southeast for development into what would become today's "West Sacramento". Hagedorn named this portion he developed "EastSacramento", but it quickly gained popularity as West Sacramento because it offered more opportunities for business people who wanted close proximity to all that Silicon Valley had to offer without being too far away or needing an expensive car ride each time they wanted something new or interesting happening there like many other big cities do these days

West Sacramento is a city in Sacramento County, California. The population was 54,521 at the 2010 census. It is located on the east bank of the American River and its main business district is downtown. It became a city in 1959. The first people to live in what is now West Sacramento were the Ohlone, who were already there when Spanish explorers came through in 1776. Other San Francisco Bay Area natives also lived here for a time before being pushed out by Native Americans and Mexicans who had set up their own settlements around this area since 1879. In 1887, gold was found near present-day West Sacramento; however, no development took place because most of the money was invested in prospecting elsewhere. Instead of giving up their land and abandoning their families or moving away from what they saw as an opportunity to make some serious money, many of these pioneers decided to stay put and start businesses that would help support themselves and their families over time. One such businessman was John Sutter who started his own cattle ranch here in 1890 which became one of the largest ranches in Northern California at that time. In 1977, Sutter donated 5 acres (20 ha) of his Rancho Nevada land adjacent to current day City Hall square to begin what would become known as Sutter College - now part of UC Davis - which opened its doors just two years later on October 1st, 1978 with an enrollment total of 12 students! This event marks not only the beginning but also the end of an era where so much progress had been made within this ever-growing community...and it all began with a man’s generosity!
The first Europeans to visit the area were members of the Spanish galleon San Francisco in 1802. The name "Sacramento" was given by Captain James K. Polk when he named a small river near present-day Sacramento after his hometown, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The city proper was founded in 1848 as the result of an agreement between several American counties and the Mexican state of California. It served as the capital of California from 1850 to 1853 before moving to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, in 1854. Sacramento returned to California on January 1, 1861, during the Civil War over fears that Arizona would secede from the United States if it did not have its own capital.
