In 1923, Waco Oil Company began production at an oil refinery on Rocklin Boulevard north of town; it shut down in 1978 but its products are still used today at that refinery. In 1951–1952, when Interstate 80 was being built through downtownSacramento, parts of town began to be destroyed as the city was expanded southward around I-80. Some homes from that expansion remain standing today on Hillcrest Avenue near Pahrump Hills Elementary School (east of town). In 1955–1956, construction started on the new Kingsbury Dam across the river from West Sacramentan; this created one of Northern California's most impressive water displays with its 16 miles (25 kilometers) long crest reaching up to 100 feet (30 meters) above water level! Today much of what once lay within town limits - including King's Park reservoir - is within Midtown Sac(ramento), home to many high-rise buildings such as those seen along Jack London Square between Stockton Street and Interstate 5 just east of North Capitol Street NW

This landmark structure helped give rise to what is now called "West Sacramento's" nickname - "The Capitol Hill". Over time, other buildings were added to the complex such as a courthouse and jail. In 1926, voters approved Measure M which created California's first statewide education system including public schools in every county within California. With this new system in place,WestSacramento quickly became one of the most important educational centers for children throughout Northern California."

By the early 1940s, West Sacramento had shrunk back to its original size and struggled to keep up with changes in the local economy. However, it regained some self-awareness and started developing a successful municipal government in the late 1940s. In recent years, West Sacramento has seen an increase in development activity as it continues to striving for increased quality of life and prosperity.
