In 1947 Warner Bros., then owned by Time-Life Corporation merged with MGM making it one large studioblock which formed The Golden age Of Television era where television dominated cinema screens across America In 1951 Disneyland opened as part of a merger between Walt Disney Company (WDC) and ABC that created ABC Studios , Incorporated . Over time WDC acquired other companies including Touchstone Pictures until it was renamed Universal Pictures after purchase by William Hurd Scripps Jr on August 29th, 1994 Universal Pictures became parent company to DreamWorks Animation SKG on January 1st 2005 . These changes led to increased traffic congestion on major streets in Downtown Los Angeles, which caused many businesses located along those streets to close their doors or move out altogether. However, this did not deter artistic expression or film production; instead it spurred creativity amongst filmmakers who could now find affordable space within downtown limits. In 1951–1952 director Darryl Zanuck persuaded studio mogul Lew Wasserman to open his own independent film studio at 16th Street & Vineyard Drive;[20][21] thus beginning what would be called “the Golden Age of Film Production” in California. Over time Wheaton Village acquired additional land around 17th Street & Vineyard Drive which served as production facilities until 1990 when they were donated by then-CEO Steve Jobs to UCLA.[22]:viii During this time period there were numerous feature films shot in or around West Hollywood including It Happened One Night (1951), On with the Night (1954), Rebel Without A Cause (1955), Wuthering Heights (1950), Singin' In The Rain (1953) etc.; however some renowned films such as Aviator(1950) are often seen less frequently because they were filmed elsewhere during this time frame while others like Mean Streets(1973) had their premiere here only after premiering elsewhere earlier that year
