This unit featured four small circles that could easily rotate so that they provided stability for multiple targets at once and it was especially popular among air rifleners who wanted to shoot Multiple- shot groups from close up! The popularity of shooting target holders continued throughout the 1970s until they finally went out of fashion in 1979 when New Zealand gunsmiths created their own unique type of ShootingTarget Holder known as the Zodiac! As with most frontier communities, West Covina quickly became known for its beautiful natural surroundings including mountain ranges and valleys as well as some of Hollywood's most exclusive addresses such as Anacapa Reef (then called Pigeon Point) and Villa Park on Ventura Boulevard. Today many local businesses Downtown still offer gourmet meals prepared fresh daily or mouthwatering desserts like chocolate cake or ice cream sundae while also providing access to bustling shopping districts filled with new and used clothing stores, art galleries, restaurants and more.
In 1871, the first white settler in what is now West Covina was James B. Harker. By 1880, there were 10 families living in West Covina. The town started to grow rapidly due to the discovery of oil and gas reserves near by. The population increased from 100 in 1880 to 300 by 1890, and 400 by 1910. The economy of West Covina grewdue to the production of petroleum products and other natural resources. In 1912, a large scale refinery was built in nearby Monterrey which processed many barrels of oil per day for local use and export. This madeWest Covina one of the largest producers of petroleum products in California at that time. In 1929, construction began on a new high school which became operational in 1930. The new high school served as a model for future schools throughout Los Angeles County. Today, it is still used as a public education facility and is known as "West Covina High School". The growth of West Covina led to development along Third Street including shopping centers (including an early movie theater) and more than 20 homes built between 1940-1950 which are now popular tourist destinations
