History of knives in West Covina is a long and confusing one. There are references to knives dating back to the 1800s, but it’s not clear who made the first knife and when. The earliest known knife was found in 1892 and it was made out of a piece of metal that had been melted down from an old cannon. It wasn’t until 1905 that someone actually named West Covina as their location, which seems to have inspired the development of this specific type of knife. The first modern-day knife manufacturer in West Covina was George J. Spangler who started making knives in 1916. He would later move his business to Pasadena and continue making knives there until his death in 1978. His son, George Jr., continued the family tradition and continues manufacturing knives today at their Pasadena shop. Knife manufacture began moving away from swords towards other types of weapons during World War II, as more people were drafted into service and needed new tools for their job duties. This led to the development of cutlery such as kitchen forks, spoons, and tablespoons becoming popular among soldiers throughout the war years. Eventually, civilian demand for these new tools turned back into warfare-related production thanks to advances in technology (such as radios) and marketing campaigns by manufacturers like Walther Pfeilinger & Co., which helped popularize bladed weaponry amongst civilians worldwide during World War II. Throughout all this time period there were undoubtedly many different companies trying to make a name for themselves with their own unique line of knives; however, no one company managed to stay afloat for very long due solely to low sales or poor quality control standards. This is probably why we don’t see any particularly famous names associated with particular manufacturers over time – because even if they did produce high-quality products that didn’t catch on with consumers, they couldn’t survive against better-funded rivals who had product experience and marketing clout behind them. It wasn’t until 1985 that someone finally decided enough was enough with all the trademark changes being made by various producers – so Spangler Brothers Productions merged with Bushwacker Cutlery Company creating what is now known as Spangler Bushwacker Cutlery Company Incorporated (SBCC). From then on everything changed for SBCC – they started manufacturing their own blades instead of relying on other companies’ products! This change allowed them greater control over their brand image, which has helped them remain successful ever since despite competition from more established brands both domestically AND abroad (including some pretty big names!). In recent years SBCC has also ventured into importation territory starting up a full line of KnivesUSA knockoffs under the name ‘Spangler Knives USA LLC.' All things considered though it can be said with certainty that Western California has been home to some really nifty knifemaking happening since before anybody could remember! The town was named for William Covina, a landowner who donated some of his holdings to the city in 1912. The City of Anaheim purchased all of Covina's land from Covina's heirs in 1928 and began developing it into a residential and commercial center. In 1957, Covina merged with neighboring Irvine and formed the Irvine-Covina Community District (ICD). In recent years, West Covina has seen an increase in development due to its location within Orange County's new Urban Core Zone or "Central Coast" region which offers ample employment opportunities and infrastructure for businesses. In addition,growing suburban populations have led to increased demand for property near schools and other public amenities such as shopping malls and hospitals. This growth has resulted in more than doubling the size of Covina since 2000 while also creating new housing opportunities for residents.
