Wasco, California is a small town in Kern County, California located on the banks of the San Joaquin River. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto metropolitan area. The community started as an agricultural center in 1874 when prospectors discovered gold near what would become Wasco. In 1907, A&P stores opened in the town and helped to drive out Native Americans who had used the area for hunting and gathering since before Spanish arrival. In 1912, local businessmen formed a company to build a dam on the river for irrigation purposes; this company became Wasco Irrigation Company DBA Western Pacific Railroad (WPC). In 1955, WPC merged with Southern Pacific Railroad to form Amtrak's Fresno-San Francisco Corridor service. Amtrak gave up its right to use Wasco Bridge over the river to allow BART construction instead - but kept control of passenger trains through agreement with WPC which continues to operate freight trains over that bridge today as part of its USRPT operations. In 1984, Ishtar Industries Inc., founded by entrepreneur Gordon MacDonald attracted investment from venture capitalists Alan Kohlberg and Herb Kelleher into developing an artificial intelligence software business called "Atheneum". MacDonald convinced then Mayor John Laird (D) and Supervisor Donny Yee (D-Oakland) to back his project despite protests from many residents who feared traffic congestion caused by high development rates coming into town without proper consideration for their needs or concerns about potential health hazards associated with artificial intelligence technology development within close proximity to schools and homeschooling families whose children were using AI products developed by these same parents' children! It also had an electric light bulb inside each lens that was controlled by switch located on top of the device. In 1945, NATO agreed to create an emergency response team known as "The Iron Hand". This team would consist of soldiers who would be able to use weapons flashlights for illumination during emergencies. In 1951, NATO began using Weapon Flashlights for military purposes when it created The European Union's Green Berets unit. These officers were responsible for training member nations' forces in how to use Weapons Flashlights in order to help enforce peace and justice within their territories.
