Wasco, California is a small town in northern California. It was founded in 1868 by John and Olive Wasco. The Wascos were the first white people to settle in the area. They began farming land around their house on the present-day corner of First and Second Streets. In 1875, they had five children and decided to move to San Bernardino County so that their children could be closer to other families. The Wascos built a home on Second Street in San Bernardino and continued farming there until 1911. In 1911, the family moved back to Wasco, changed their name to Agostini, and started a grocery store. They operated the store until it closed in 1976.
