The arrival of automobiles made Wasco one of the fastest-growing cities in America during that decade; business quickly expanded into trucking, farming, manufacturing, and service sectors such as health care and education services before declining starting in the late 20th century due to changing global trends and technological advances. In recent years there have been efforts by local leaders to revive downtown business activity as well as improve infrastructure such as bike lanes, more public transportation options (including bus lines), new housing developments,and retail stores restored along with new restaurants and bars that have opened up around town throughout 2017 & 2018 . An event scheduled for September 14th will bring together mayors from across California to discuss ways they can work together towards redeveloping downtown areas within their respective cities
