So they set out into local communities such as Redding where they sold goods featuring buffalo horns mounted on leather thongs so people could watch from afar while taking trophies home! Soon after this men began building fortifications around these towns in an effortto protect themselves from hostile Indians who might tryto rob them blind during THEIR traditional annual hunt season! It wasn’t until 1851 when Captain George Armstrong founded Fort Armstrong overlookingCache Valley After years Of hard work by his soldiers he finally received word from President James K Polk that there was indeed gold buried somewhere inside THATWACO COUNTY!!! As soon as Capt Armstrong got his hands on some mining rights adjacentTo Cache Valley he knew THIS WAS HIS FUTURE!!!!! Little did he know however that within 10 Years OF HIS FIRST STOREYARDS IN CALIFORNIA GOLD WAS BEING APPEARED ON THE GROUND WITH MINERALS INCLUDING GOLD!! A few years later Captain John Sutter arrived In Wasco County lookingfor new land To farm following his discoveryOf Gold At Sutterville In 1849 But instead Of finding any viable plots He decided To build His own Fortification Around His Ranch Named Sutterville Sacramento Bay This led To The War Of 1855 Which Ended With The Uprising Against General Simcoe By Captain John Sutter And His Men Resulting In The DeathOf Over 100 Californians Including 4 Generals!!!! Just Before This Conflict Occurred A group Of Englishmen Who Called themselves “The Forty Thieves” CameTo Town Looking For Adventure & territorial expansion Reached Camp At Lone Pine Canyon & Found Out About Our Mines But Not Enough Men Could Be gathered To Help Protect Themselves So They retreated Back Into Their camps & Stated That They Would Return When More Men Were Sent Home From Army Service Elsewhere!!!! Wasco is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 1,619 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bakersfield metropolitan area. Wasco was founded in 1877 by John A. Wasco and his wife Lillie Gage as a trading post on the Gold Rush Trail between San Francisco and Stockton. The name "Wascos" were derived from the Native American word wassa meaning “the place where game can be found” or "the hunting ground." A post office was established at Wasco on February 14, 1877, and remained in operation until October 9, 1907. The town was incorporated on November 5, 1908. Its original site included present-day downtown Wasco as well as what is now the north side of Main Street and some parts of what are now Business Park Drive and Egan Avenue. Wasco was founded in 1853 by James W. Wasco and his wife, Nancy. The Wascos were the first people to settle in the area and named their town after a farm they had located on their property. The Wascos started a post office in 1854 and a store in 1855. In 1860, the Wascotts built an addition to their home that is still standing today. They also added a millinery shop and garage to their lot in 1865. In 1898, the family sold the business to Guglielmo Piersanti who operated it until 1913 when it was bought by Julius Rosenwald Jr., president of Sears, Roebuck & Co.. When Rosenwald died, his son Julius Jr. took over management of the company and renamed it Sears, Roebuck & Co., Inc.. The store building still stands as one of Sears' most iconic landmarks.
