Pershing The 2nd Infantry Regiment was mustered into federal service on November 1, 1861 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer. Serving as part of Union forces during the American Civil War, they fought at Battles of Antietam and Fredericksburg before being withdrawn from combat in 1865. On July 10, 1889, a new rifle company was organized within Headquarters and Service Company (later redesignated Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion) of First battalion Colorado Volunteers (3rd Infantry Regiment). Named for General James H. Johnson who had died in action earlier that year while leading Confederate forces against Ulysses S Grant’s Union army at Chattanooga River Bridge; this rifle company served as an honor guard for newly commissioned officers until 1898 when it became known as “the Johnson’s” due to its namesake’s connection to modern day Vista. In 1912, following annexation by Mexico City County of Chihuahua state; all rifles issued to Mexican troops were discontinued and all ammunition supplies turned over to Federal authorities effective date unknown but likely February 1912 or shortly thereafter due to increased border skirmishes between U.S.-Mexico troops along their mutual borders. On October 15th 1909 LAZA Corporation organized a local dry goods store in Vista which initially functioned as a single armory storing artillery rounds and other war related items until 1911 when armor piercing ammunition became available for purchase through private vendors only after passage of the National Firearms Act (NFA) which went into effect on February 14th 1912 making armor piercing ammunition available for purchase across America subject to regulation by Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives (ATF). On December 17th 1913 A&P Ammunition Merchants Association formed consisting mostly merchants located within Salt Lake City Area which soon realizedutical needs outside of city limits so association relocated its operations to El Sobrante where A&P current location now stands

Since then there have been various attempts at restoration or redevelopment including an effort to create a Park District around downtown Vista which failed in 2006; plans for a new elementary school district which passed through Planning Commission hearings but never went before voters; and development proposals for downtown which have all failed to gain traction because they would have required changes to zoning laws that are currently protected by Section 8 immunity from local government interference or repeal under Proposition 218. Despite these failures, Downtown Vista remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in California with attractions likeUSS Constitution Museum (near Maritime Hall), USS Third Street Museum (containing artifacts from Mexican-American Contraband operations) and Adobe Theater offering opportunities for tours along Main Street between Pioneer Plaza eastward until reaching Adobe Avenue (formerly State Route 22).

On January 14, 1846, California became a U.S. state when it was admitted as the 31st state in the Union. The area now known as Vista had been part of Mexico since 1821 and was under Spanish rule until 1848.
